My husband and I visited this attractive location and took advantage of their great Happy Hour pricing on beer and select dishes. We got a bit carried away ordering, so ended up being very full, but everything we had was so delicious we polished it all off! We enjoyed the Papaya Pineapple Green Salad, Satay Chicken, Roti Canai, Nyonya Fried Calamari and Spring Rolls. Service was very friendly and prompt and we really enjoyed the entire experience. We will return!

This seems to be an expanding chain and I can see why. Good , tasty food with excellent service. One of the mains is offered at half price which changes daily and makes dining there even better value

We ordered 3 dishes, and all were tiny portions. The beef rendang alone was $22 and there were exactly 6 small cubes of beef in that dish. There was more oil in that dish than beef. The only dish that had any substance to it was the sambal green beans. Total bill came to $77 and the 3 of us were still hungry afterwards. Far far too expensive for such small servings!

This is great food at a great price - but not fine dining. Very nice spot, great service. Had the 9 dish taster menu and it was a great fit for two hungry people after a day with a lot of exercise. Would definitely go back again - thanks Banana leaf!

The food was very good, including for my father who’d never had Malaysian food before. The service was quick and friendly. The only thing that always gets me about this location is that it’s halfway between a hole in the wall and a true restaurant. If you’re in the area, eat here; if you’re making a trip in specifically for Malaysian, go to the location a few blocks north on Robson at Denman.

Five of us for dinner Thursday evening and seated quickly. After reviewing the great menu options, we went with the 9 course tasting menu which was absolutely magnificent! From the papaya and pineapple Asian salad, to the best chicken satay I've ever eaten, then the delicious mango chili tiger prawns and one of the most delicious fish dishes ever: Assam curry fish!! Also rendang beef curry, sambas green beans and pineapple seafood fried rice, roti canai provided wonderful sampling of the menu. Fried bananas and ice cream as dessert!! The choices for this menu were exemplary! We all felt like we could return and do the same dinner again, it was so tasty! If you all have a chance to do the tasting menu, obviously I highly recommend it.

Need to bring back the old menu. The food used to be so good here. What happened?

Love banana leaf! The lunch specials are a really great deal! Good portions and great service. The food and drinks are always delicious. Never been disappointed!

Delicious food with amazing staff. Good ambient and location. They have very good deals on both daily specials and happy hour items. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about my food restriction (gluten intolerance) or they would ask the kitchen. There were two items listed on their limited menu (during COVID?) that mark gluten free, but they were able to modified many other items to make them gluten free also. Highly recommend this restaurant!

long and narrow, the restaurant can get busy very quickly. Food is very good. Try the Roti Cannai and the papaya salad.

We had ordered takeout, quick and delicioous. The chicken satay, honey garlic, and Tom yum were amazing.

Delicious, authentic beef rendang and laska. No, it's not what you'll get in Ipoh or Penang, but it's an excellent substitute. The nasi goreng was good, although not as outstanding. What was also outstanding was the service. We had a couple of miscommunications and Cassi, the lady working that day, couldn't have been more gracious. It was probably my mistake, but she certainly didn't make it feel like it was my fault.

I ordered two Char kway Teow for pick up over the phone at around noon and a male server told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. .When I arrived at the restaurant to pick it up, the male server told me that only one Char kway Teow was ready because they ran out of the noodles. He asked if I would pick up only one Char kway Teow for now or to wait for another one. I chose to wait and they told me that they would order from another branch nearby and asked me to wait 10 more minutes. I said okay. But after two minutes, the guy came back to me and told me that they have received noodles just now and could make me one.I came home with two Char kway Teow after all and below are the pictures of them when I opened the lids. The darker color one was so salty that I was not able to finish even half of it so I had to throw it away.Bad service and poor quality of food. Probably it's time for me to look for other Malay restaurants.

No longer my go-to restaurant. My partner and I used to order Banana Leaf (Denman location) at least once per week. It was our favorite restaurant in Vancouver. The food was extremely consistent, the staff friendly and familiar. We ordered take out there about a year ago and noticed our favorite dishes were suddenly different in flavor. We stopped ordering from there on this account. We decided to give this restaurant another try today and were disappointed. The dishes have all become more expensive, which I can accept, especially in light of the pandemic... but the dishes also got downgraded when compared to in the past. Our favorite dish, Mee Goreng is no longer even remotely comparable in flavor. There were only two prawns in the whole plate of noodles, compared to what used to be about 10 or 12. From my recollection, the dish used to have thinly sliced fish cakes, which have now been omitted. The tomatoes were chinsy in quantity compared to in the past, as is the pickled cabbage garnish. The dishes used to be ready very quickly, typically ready for pick-up in 10 minutes. Tonight, it took them half an hour for a salad and noodle dish. I very much regret that the quality has been lowered, the price raised and the dishes are no longer comparable to how they once were. I can only suspect that there’s been a change in ownership. I hope they will take my feedback seriously as I wish to remain a loyal customer.
