The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the flavors are quite good, especially considering the affordability of all the congee options. The only drawback is that the ambiance of the restaurant is somewhat outdated.

So it being the Eve to Chinese New Year.. I decided to order a couple of crabs in the famous Cream sauce over Noodles ( the pricing was excellent at $14.99/lb) so it was under 6lbs in total for the two crabs and the dish came to just over $100 .. I placed the order way ahead of the dinner rush .. waited patiently when the girl said that it would be about 30 minutes.. 45 min came and went then a hour.. the manager asked me why I was waiting and for what? I noted the dish and he waited some more then when all the other "New" order came and went and I'm still there .. I sense that they messed up .. being patient I saw messed up orders left and centre ( sweet & sour pork came but the order was for sauce to be on the side).. the manager wasn't pleased and order the kitchen to redo the order ..so being a nice guy I stepped up and told him that I'd buy the party tray order and he thanked me for stepping up .. still waiting .. nothing came as others came and went .. he took it upon himself to Stand in the kitchen that he refused to do BUT for my case he went against it and held the kitchen to take my order .. brought it home and man when they say that things shouldn't be rushed.. that was a very wise person as my 6 lbs of crab over noodles was dryer than the Sahara .. its going to be a very cold day in August that I'd be visiting them again for certain.. I will go in after the CNY to speak with him to express my disappointment.. BUT to be fair.. they must be busy for a reason.. none of which was evident in this visit.. oh and by the way .. go to the cashier side and don't bother to speak with the guy packing as all he did was point to go so much for customer is King when you're busy‍

Takeout service was good. The chef has again forgotten to put enough salt into the Chow Fun and Chow Mein. This isn’t the first time neither.

The Kingsway location is way worse the the broadway location.FOOD: I had the BBQ meat and it was dry / flavourless and the portion size of the meat was small. The ratio between meat to rice was like 1 to 10 so for every bite you can hardly taste the rubbery meat.SERVICE: not bad but not good. Waitress didn’t even give us the soup that is suppose to come with the BBQ meat.ATMOSPHERE: no condiments on the table (no chilli oil, no soy sauce, no vinegar)Go to the CONGEE HOUSE BROADWAY location it’s worth the drive.

Tried several dishes as takeout and it’s good, but mainly average. Honey garlic spareribs, fried rice, rice noodles, etc. were all standard tasting and comparable to mall food court level Chinese food. It does the job of feeding you and portions are good. It’s like a quick fix for a Chinese food craving.

One word - consistency! Every time I come here to satisfy my Chinese food cravings, they always deliver a great and flavourful meal. The congee is fantastic, the special fried rice is a go-to, the spicy fried silver fish or squid is another favourite, and last but not least, their buddha feast with tofu is top notch! The portions are big and great value for money. The servers are always in a hurry and aren't the most polite but they get the job done. The only negative comment I have is that they only accept cash, but sometimes they do allow you to pay by debit card.

Good pricing on items. We enjoyed the noodle soup with wontons and beef stew. Both of the noodle soup were good. However the noodle portion was smaller than I expected. And only the beef stew noodle bowl had vegetable. I believe that all noodle soup bowls should come with vegetable. The presentation of the wonton noodle soup was upside down. All I could see initially was just noodle and nothing else. I thought that was weird. We also order the beef chow fun and singapore fried noodle. The beef chow fun was pretty good but we all disliked the singapore fried noodle. The flavor was off and the curry powder was very powdery.

This is a spartan place to get your homestyle cantonese noodle and congee fix. Decor is plain, service is brusque (w/o being rude), and dishes come out fast. Prices were pretty good for what you're getting. We ordered 4 dishes, the winner being the beef fried chow fun. Great taste, not oily, and good portion size. The noodle soups were tasty but middling and not too large. The stewed beef pieces were tender and the dumplings were large. Unfortunately, the Singapore rice noodle lacked saltiness and there was very little meat nor egg in the dish. If you want noodle for a good price, this could be regular place for you.

This is our go to place when we crave Chinese food. It is the best! We especially love the deep fried tofu and stir fry noodles! This place is always so busy and it can be hard to find parking at times. It's also important to note that they are closed on Wednesdays!
