I had a tea tasting experience here and it was excellent. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, as well as patient and kind with us. Each of the teas changed and evolved over the tasting experience, and we got to witness the craftsmanship with which each was prepared.

Small, cozy & peaceful tea shop where you can do tea tasting with wide variety of tea from Asia. They also have some teawares for sale.My partner and I went in for a regular tea tasting session ($60/person) led by Jude on a weekend afternoon. We tried 4 different types of tea (some of them we picked, others recommended) to try. Jude was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the teas were quite good & interesting. However, Jude was by himself, and he got super busy with dealing with other customers during our tea session, so we ended up pouring & drinking tea ourselves when he was busy. Of couse, he was apologetic ahout it, several times for not being able to take care of us. Overall, the tea tasting itself was good, but took way longer than an hour, and the session ended up being not as intimate as we hoped. I would not necessarily do another tea tasting for $60, but would gladly come again for a cup of tea, which is about $15.There are only 3 tables where customers can sit (max. of 10 people total in the shop), so I would only recommend this place for a group of 4 or less if you would like to sit down for some tea.Strongly recommended for a cup of tea & tea tasting session on a quiet day!

My fiancé discovered this place and brought me there as a surprise. It turned out to be a delightful experience. We tasted the Citrus Pu'er and Anji Baicha teas, each offering a unique flavor profile - the aged richness of the 13-year Pu'er and the unmistakable freshness of the first-harvest Anji Baicha. The owner provided excellent service. The shop was quite busy at the time and he still managed to take care of us. He refill our tea once we finish our current cup. The ambiance of the establishment added to the overall enjoyment, creating a cozy space to savor our tea.We also decided to take home a bag of their Green Peony. They do have an exceptional good quality of their tea leaves. We also ordered a bottole of the kombucha that they self-made in the shop.In summary, our visit left us thoroughly satisfied. This place is definitely going to be our go to place in the future for teas. They provide way better quality of tea leaves than any other places we have been to in Vancouver. You don't have to worry about getting those bad tea leaves that you get from supermarket. You also don't need to worry about being not familiar with the tea culture as the owner was really good at introducing the teas in English. It was an amazing experience.

I have been going to Cultivate Tea for years now, not only for the amazing selection of thoughtfully curated teas, but for the wonderful ambiance and excellent customer service. The ceramics that they carry are next level and I highly recommend their unique selection of incense (they are a perfect compliment to your tea ritual). This shop is a unique gem and definitely worth exploring. Highly recommended.

Cultivate tea is a truly special place. This was me and my friend's first time and it was transformative. I truly recommend visiting this tea shop. The moment you step into the space you feel transported to a calm, warm environment with the most tranquil music and calming aromas. The interior is designed by the owners and every aspect of the space is custom made. The meticulous eye for quality and taste shows in every piece of the store and extends into the tea themselves. My friend booked us a tea tasting as a birthday gift to me and were met by one of the owners, Jude. He was extremely welcoming and kind to us. He started by explaining the process of tasting, including the temperatures and order. Jude thoughtfully arranged our tea choices into a tasting journey. Throughout the tasting we learned more about the sourcing of the tea, Jude's inspirations and life. I recommend you ask about the tea and business when you visit! Jude is a multitalented and kind individual with a lot of dedication to his teas. His happiness and love of tea is contagious. The teas themselves are impeccable. We tried the new Pu'erh Fountain of the Forest tea, some Yuzu black tea, gold osmanthus tea, and the Gardenia Bird's Tongue. Never have I had such amazing tea. We were encouraged to smell and engage with each tea presented. We left with a bag of almost every tea we had tried because we loved them so much! I even bought a gaiwan early this week so I could enjoy the tea to its fullest. The tea tasting session is an amazing gift to give to others, it was one of the best gifts I have ever received. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks again!

Alright, time to spill the tea!!When I think of tea shops in Vancouver, Cultivate is the first one that crosses my mind.I discovered this soft glowing gem of a shop a couple of years ago and my love for it hasn't faded. From their feathery white tea selection, to their whimsical herbal collection, you can tell that the owner has put a lot of thought and time in curating and selecting what teas to source for the shop.Last fall my friend treated me to a tea tasting as a birthday gift and it was WONDERFUL. What an experience being able to watch the perfect cup prepared in front of me.If you feel like having a chill, comforting TYS (treat yourself) moment, check out the shop and enjoy the relaxing space with a warm drink brewed to perfection.

My friend and I were keen on enjoying a serene tea experience at Cultivate Tea, but sadly, our visit was anything but pleasant. Despite our respectful demeanor, we were met with an air of arrogance and condescension from the owner. Our inquiries regarding the tea varieties and pricing were met with disdain, and the owner continuously cast doubt on our purchasing ability, which felt quite demeaning. The situation worsened when we observed the stark contrast in the owner's demeanor towards another male customer, who was received with warmth and friendliness. It was hard not to perceive this differential treatment as a form of gender discrimination, which cast a gloomy shade over our experience. Our disappointment peaked when we settled down to enjoy our tea. The tea-brewing technique employed by the owner was far from professional and contradicted the accepted norms of tea brewing. As someone with a certification in Chinese tea sommelier, I found this particularly concerning. When we voiced our concerns and questions regarding the preparation method, the owner’s response was patronizing and dismissive, attributing our dissatisfaction merely to personal taste. When the time came to settle the bill, the lack of transparency was glaring. We were not provided with a detailed bill, and instead of allowing us to determine the tip amount, the owner entered a figure into the Point Of Sale machine without any consultation or explanation. In conclusion, our visit to Cultivate Tea was a lamentable experience filled with unprofessionalism, disrespect, and a possible hint of gender discrimination. We left feeling mistreated and disheartened. For those who value courteous service, transaction transparency, professionalism in tea preparation, and a welcoming ambiance, I would advise reconsidering a visit to this establishment. Our encounter was unfortunate, and one we do not wish to relive.

Great selection of premium teas, cozy vibe. This is not your average regular tea shop. Vancouver is fortunate to have Cultivate tea.

I visited the tea shop today, and I must say the experience was quite disappointing. During our time in the shop, we maintained respectful behaviour at all times, but the owner showed an arrogant and condescending attitude towards my friend and me. He responded to our questions with disdain and continuously questioned our purchasing ability, which was somewhat off-putting.The stark difference in the owner's behaviour towards another male customer in the shop made the situation even more problematic. He received a consistently warm and friendly attitude, making it difficult not to associate how we have been treated with gender discrimination. When we decided to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea, the owner's tea-brewing technique was far from professional and completely contrary to common knowledge of tea brewing. When we raised concerns and questions about how the tea was prepared, his response was condescending and unacceptable. He even dismissed our concerns by attributing our dissatisfaction to our personal taste.Furthermore, when it came time to pay, the owner provided no detailed bill and didn't allow us to choose a tip amount independently. Instead, he simply entered a number into the POS machine and handed it to us.Overall, it was a regrettable encounter that left us feeling mistreated and disrespected. I would caution others who value good service, professionalism, transaction transparency, and pleasant tea taste to think twice before visiting this place.

New favourite tea shop in Vancouver! Jude curates an incredible selection of high quality teas and elegant teawares. The shop also offers delicious kombucha and seasonal tea-flavoured ice creams. I’ve yet to do a tea tasting but it’s definitely on my list. Very cool that the tasting menu changes every few weeks and I love the thought that goes into selecting the different themes and pairings. If you love tea or anything tea related, this is the place to check out in Vancouver. It’s also always a joy to chat with Jude about his offerings as I’ve learned so much and have never felt any pressure to buy (...though I always seem to leave with something I’m excited about).

I rarely write reviews, but this was such a distinctly bad experience, that I would like to help fellow tea peeps avoid going here.My friend and I, who are rather avid tea drinkers, who travel the world exploring and buying tea, and buy very fine and costly tea when inspired (my friend, being particularly knowledgeable and experienced about all things tea), stumbled upon this store on our last visit to Vancouver via Google. It was near our AirBnB. We often buy tea at places we find as we travel to help owners out if they are kind and do a tasting with us, out of respect for the art and because we know how hard it's been lately after COVID and so forth. Brick and mortar tea houses need tea peep support!! Though the store is nicely merchandised and most things were in pretty packaging, everything in the store was very overpriced from the teas to the tea wares. We both know the prices of all of these sorts of items and teas quite well. The teapots (unsigned and with no visible nomenclature whatsoever), in particular, were waaaay too costly for what they were (ridiculously so, like buyers are knuckleheads). But sometimes, you get what you pay for in expensive teas, and we were game to try some tea and buy some too. However, to say that the customer service and sense of any appreciation of our interest in their tea was lacking would be an understatement. The proprietor (and we expressly "confirmed" he was the owner) seemed distinctly disinterested in being helpful or hospitable in any manner. He had a single guest at the Tea Bar that seated 4. And when we asked if we 2 could join in and sample the tea that was already made and being served, he dismissed us and said we needed an advance paid reservation (even though 3 seats were clearly available). When we offered to pay and that if anyone with a reservation later came for a tasting, we would immediately surrender our seats, he retorted that the seats were still not available. So we then inquired about an empty table with two chairs on the other side of the store (away from the tea bar) where we could do our own gaiwan service and taste a few teas to make some purchase decisions. He told us it was available for 15 minutes per paid gaiwan session. (Mind you, he might have that 15 minute rule to avoid the loitering by unhoused persons, but that would not describe how we looked). When we inquired and were told how costly each gaiwan service was, to avoid disappointment, we inquired about how much tea and water was provided per session, because something just didn't feel right here! He told us that it was 3g per gaiwan service and then showed us the supply hot water pitcher included, which was barely 100 - 120 ml (essentially enough water for one steep). How can you fully taste a fine tea on a single steep? We wanted to do the gung fu style tea brewing method, which requires multiple short steeps to assess any tea. When we asked if hot water refills or a larger thermos were available, he said no, and that we would have to pay for another round of (ridiculously $$$) gaiwan service for two. Really - for just 120ml of hot water?! This gaiwan service was exceedingly overpriced for the amount of tea and water provided, but, the upshot of it all was that this experience of being treated so poorly and so inhospitably at a teahouse was something neither one of us had ever experienced in our worldwide travels. We left the store commenting about the shear lack of good tea house energy and lack of kind spirit of the owner. Perhaps it is owned by a person who runs it as a vanity hobby and feels entitled to be snooty? Perhaps, but perhaps I shouldn't speculate! But as 2 persons who travel and generally experience wonderful tea synergies around the world, where tea house personnel overwhelmingly sense that each of us are both knowledgeable and interested "buyers" (and not mere lookie-loos), this place was a real eye opening disappointment. Maybe if we had been wearing some couture bling clothing, fine watches and some super fancy shoes, we would have been bett
