A total city hidden gem. Tucked away on the roof of Honolulu Coffee, this place serves authentic and delicious Japanese eats. During the day, there’s loads of natural sunlight that floods the space beautifully and during the summer their rooftop patio with city views is a real bonus.Vegetarian options: They have vegan bento box options.Kid-friendliness: They have kid combos.

Edit: Yes, I've seen all the things she wrote and all the things you have sent her via email. I understand you need to protect your employee but it doesn't mean you can verbally attack and harass other people in private setting either. As you protect your employee with all these complains, you are actually taking away the chance for your employees to grow up.I personally don't write reviews of restaurants that often and this place was one of my and my colleague's go to places until I experienced a horrible service and see how they cannot resolve the problem. It is very general to complain about the service. We ordered the food and we got it wrong, then what they gave us was different than we thought. Ordered regular size ebimayo ($22) and what we got was Happy Hour portion ($10). So we asked the server to check since we ordered the regular portion. She brings out the plate and got the same plate back that she would give us more to match the regular size. Few minutes later what we got was another Happy Hour ebimayo. So we complained about the portion then the other server came and he would check with the kitchen. Since we have been there so many times we know how the size is different. But what I hear was that they weigh the prawns so it should be the same. Well if we compare with the portion size of what we usually get, 2 Happy Hour size was not even close to the same weight like they said. But still I don't really want to fight, it is understandable. So we asked to change the orders to 2 Happy Hour size since it is cheaper than the regular size. But when we were getting the bill, the server brought up the situation back and he gave us the regular $22 instead of 2 Happy hour since it is $24 and cheaper than the regular size. Unfortunately, the menu was right beside of me and I was so frustrated that I am hearing all these lies.As one of my other friends wrote a review about the service, at first the owner/manager sent her messages with kindly manner and we all understood that it could happen since we are all humans and we make mistakes. But few days later they sent us an email saying that we were discriminating, pointing out one of their employees and that we were being racist as we spoke discriminating words. In fact, we never spoke any words that can be discriminating others with their race or colour, and pointing out one person was because it was that person who gave us the attitude.I really did not want to write a review like this since I am also in the customer service industry, I know how hard to fulfill everyone's expectation, however I think this is beyond the line and what they said was more like insulting that we are making up the stories and harassing their employees.I am very sorry and sad to leave this review but I won't be coming back to this place ever again.

Went for a birthday dinner. Ordered the izakaya course menu and added some items. Food was great and came out fairly quickly. Also got a surprise birthday dessert which was nice. Would go back again!

My sister took our family here for a Christmas dinner and it was SOOO good. I've walked by here so many times but it's a place I would never think to go. Absolutely delicious and everything tasted so fresh. Would love to come back sometime.

Very disappointed.I was a big fan of Haraheri until today because some staff were so nice, but not anymore because of the guy who doesn’t look Asian but can speak Japanese. It wasn’t the first time that he treated us so badly, but the manager(I believe he is the manager) and the staff(she is Japanese and really nice) treated us really nicely.About the bad experience with the guy who I mentioned earlier at first, we already finished paying the bill and sat at the table to finish our drinks, he came and told us that there was remaining which was $0.01 to pay and asked us to pay for that.It was really ridiculous to ask to pay because there was rounding up when we split the bill. But we didn’t complain and just paid for one cent with the credit card as he asked.I don’t even want to mention the other day when he ignored us. I don’t want to say that he is racist, but he was nice to only Caucasian and Japanese. But, we tried to be nice because of the staff who I mentioned earlier. But, I’m done with that ridiculous situation. It was the end of the year, and I visited Haraheri with my coworkers. For us, it wasn’t even the first time to came here together. We ordered Sapporo pitcher, Sapporo Black lager, happy hour menus; Tuna tataki, takowasabi, harami, and mekyabetsu, and regular ebi mayo. The Japanese girl who took our order was not good at English, but I totally understand the language problem because English is not my first language as well.So for her, we double-checked the order just in case, and guess what? We got happy hour ebi mayo which has 5 prawns, and I told her that we ordered the regular ebi mayo. She tried to say something, but she might have trouble to explain in English. She said she would check it in the kitchen and brought the dish of ebi mayo. When she came back with the ebi mayo that she took earlier, she said the kitchen would make the regular one for us (or the rest of the ebi mayo). We were talking while we were waiting for the food, and the other Japanese girl brought another happy hour ebi mayo. We complained that we ordered the regular size, and THAT guy didn’t even explain it to us instead he said he was going to explain it to the other Japanese girl. They started talking in Japanese, and when he came to our table, he explained that we got two happy hour ebi mayo which is the same amount as the regular ebi mayo. I told him that we’d ordered the regular ebi mayo during happy hour because it was better quality and quantity than the happy hour one, and it usually comes in more than 10 (between 11 to 12, and the size was bigger than we’ve got). He went to the kitchen to ask and came back with a weird answer. According to him, they measure the weight and serve, so the amount of the ebi mayo would be between 10-12. But the ebi mayo’s batter was really thin and the size was really small. When he explained to us, two kitchen staff came out from the kitchen and stared at us which made us feel terrible. So, we asked him to change to two happy hour ebi mayo which is $20 instead of the regular ebi mayo which is $22, and he said he would. We felt really bad and didn’t want to stay there anymore, so we decided to move to the other restaurant. Once we asked for the bill, that guy brought the bill and explained that the regular ebi mayo is cheaper than two happy hours ebi mayo, so he didn’t change the price. He thought we were dumb enough to cheat? I don’t know what he was trying to do. We always paid tips even if the staff missed our order or something, but not this time.If he wouldn’t lie to us, we at least paid the average tips.I feel sad that I lost my favourite place, I came here when I had something to celebrate. But I might not be back here again.

Fantastic! I had the pleasure of trying the tasting menu at this Japanese restaurant priced at $55 CAD, and it was a delightful experience. Everything was excellent, especially their Japanese pasta – the texture was just right, firm and delicious! The Snow White cocktail was also a highlight. What truly stood out for me was the flexibility in tipping during the checkout. Being able to choose the percentage or amount for the tip made me feel incredibly respected. With already great service and the non-compulsory tipping policy, I highly recommend this place!

We found out about Haraheri randomly but glad we did! We were on the patio for our New Year's Eve dinner but it was still cozy and warm with the heaters. Food was great. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back again.

(Edited) As the owner of the restaurant requested, I edited my review, but I wouldn't delete my original review on Google. I had a terrible experience at Haraheri restaurant. The server lied about the price and overcharged me. While the owner apologized and offered a refund and token, I refused because of the poor treatment we received. I won't be returning to the restaurant.

Honestly, great place to have a few beers with friends or coworkers. We celebrated our friends/coworkers birthday and the service was amazing.Food was great. I was a little disappointed with the tasting Menu (Seasonal $55). I honestly thought we would have set course for the each of us but it’s $55 for each person and it’s a shared course. Other than that, service was fantastic food came out fast and would come back again.Parking: Better parking that’s open longer or 24hrs

What a nice surprise to find Haraberi. Actually, my wife found them while looking for a restaurant before going to the VSO Traditional Christmas concert. Personally, I am surprised this restaurant does not have a higher average Google review rating. The food was amazing. Our group had the seasonal tasting menu plus some other extras. Each dish was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is clean and bright. Tomo our server who is the manager as well was knowledgable and friendly. Supposedly this restaurant has a great patio and it looks like it. So will have to be back in warmer weather. My wife will be going back there to eat again. BTW one of our friends in our group is Japanese and she also agreed the food was very good.

All the dishes are delicious and beautiful. Compare to the other izakaya chain, it's not too expensive. One of the best izkaya place in downtown.
