Nice and cheap Japanese comfort food. Love the atmosphere! The shrimp tempura is delicious!

Some time ago, I was fiending for some authentic Japanese onigiri and homestyle food fare since Hi-Genki closed it's doors to the public, and found this little restaurant. It sure hits the spot. The onigiri come nicely shaped, and they have various, classic toppings/flavours, separated into meat/veggie/seafood categories. My personal favourites are ikura, unagi, and pork miso, and they have monthly special onigiris as well. The cream crab and butter scallop were great when they were available. The ikura are nice and big, most likely chum salmon roe from my observation (as someone who buys various sokijo/ikura from fishermen either at ColdFish or Steveston wharf in Richmond when available).Luckily, I'm in the area every week with my young son, and it's his favourite place to eat.He loves onigiris so much, whatever food we are eating for dinner at home, he wants nori seaweed and koshihikari rice to make onigiris out of them, I had to stop him not to make a bulgogi beef congee onigiri...The rest of the food fare has a homestyle vibe in it's preparation, reminiscent to the ever popular Hi-Genki, and there is a lot to choose from the menu.My only criticism is that the place is tiny and has limited seating. The small size does add to it's charm though.Highly recommended!Kid-friendliness: Lots of food the kids will enjoy, seating is good for young children.

Lovely bistro serving Japanese home style foods. Very limited seating, as it is a small restaurant but wasn’t at all packed on a weekday afternoon. Pay before you eat, debit only. Service is good and the two staff are friendly.Had a daily special and a matcha ice cream w/ mochi dessert (in-store menu), for $21.13 after gst and tips.

Be prepared to wait half an hour on weekends for lunch, not many seats and too many customers. Not for impatient people. If only their seating amount tripled .Small homestyle Japanese Bistro, only 2 workers so they need time to make meals; one is the owner herself. Food is good, many onigiri choices to select from. Many varieties to select from in general. Parking is tougher to find around the park and SkyTrain station.

Loved this little bistro! They have two tables that can fit four people, in addition to bar seats along the window, so make sure to keep your party small. The staff were friendly and kind, patiently waiting for us to review the menu and finally pick a few dishes. We ordered the beef udon combo with the salmon onigiri, as well as a keema curry and an ikura onigiri. All in all, we paid about $30 before tip. The food was tasty! We’ll definitely be back again!

We're totally into this cozy restaurant – the Japanese food is authentic, and the prices are reasonable! We usually hit up this joint when we've got time to kill because, you know, the wait can be an hour or more if a couple of orders are in front of you. And they may run out of seats when it is busy. But even with the wait and limited seating, we keep coming back 'cause we love the food here! It's a small crew – only two people holding it down – so they're hustling to get your food out. The server and the chef are friendly. Our only tip: swing by only when you're not in a hurry. Worth the wait, though!
