Les Faux Bourgeois is a great little bistro in East Vancouver that serves up classic French dishes such as duck confit and steak frites. I recently visited again to try their new puff pastry tarts, and they were delicious. Pro tip: you can pay an extra $7 to upgrade your steak to a tenderloin! Totally worth it. It usually gets quite busy so ensure you have a reservation, or come right when they open!

Our server Bruno was extremely friendly and was very attentive to all of our tables needs. It was some of the best french food I have tasted in vancouver. Steak frites cooked perfectly to order (most places overcook rare steak).

I lived in Paris for 20 years and I haven't found a better rendition of a Parisian bistro in Vancouver. The food is absolutely fantastic and very fairly priced, to the point that I would be hard pressed to find better alternatives in Paris itself. Every dish I've had the chance to try was great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu but I am very partial to the duck confit. The atmosphere and service are fabulous as well. It hits the sweet spot between casual and formal and you will feel comfortable bringing in a date or just reuniting with an old friend. And kudos to the waitresses and waiters, being ever helpful and attentive yet discreetly and tactfully so.

This is my first time experiencing French cuisine, and I love it. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night, and I barely got a table. The atmosphere is a bit too dark for my liking, but the food more than made up for it. The Escargots de Bourgogne had an excellent crunchy texture and came with a rich butter-garlic-herb sauce that complemented it perfectly. In fact, the sauce was so good that I finished an entire bread basket with it. The Salade niçoise has a very good mix of flavour, but it seemed to use canned tuna and a lot of other canned ingredients instead of fresh ones. The confit de canard is a highly delightful experience. The crispiness of the duck skin contrasts delectably with the juicy leg meat, all seasoned in a way that preserves a hint of the duck's natural flavour. The duck sat upon a mound of leafy greens saturated with a tangy vinigrette, which I found to be pleasant enough to dip another full bread basket into. Lastly, the fresh Crème brûlée tasted far richer and creamier than anything pre-made. The hard caramelized shell was fun to break as well. However, it is not very sweet, which is fine for me. Overall a highly enjoyable experience.
I accompanied a friend to this restaurant where we opted for the chef's menu paired with Canadian wine. The total bill, including tips, amounted to $700. At $350 per person, having experienced several top French restaurants globally, I anticipated a certain level of quality. However, the reality fell short. The ambiance was overly loud with tables crammed closely, offering no privacy. The food was disappointingly average, lacking any standout courses, while the wine selection failed to complement most dishes. Service was minimal, with waitstaff providing cursory explanations and seldom checking in. Despite the steep $100 tip, the experience left me questioning its high ratings. I'd recommend opting for a genuine Michelin 3-star experience, even at $900 per person, as it undoubtedly offers superior value compared to this establishment.

This discreet restaurant is a must stop for all steak lovers. The steak frites accompanied with the mustard butter and peppercorn sauce were the ultimate combo. The staff were very friendly and quick I’ve been here twice in the past week and will be coming again! 10/10

The food was amazing and our server, Bruno, was excellent. Me and my partner were here for our 1 year anniversary. We often hold hands across the table at restaurants. Bruno noticed this and, when he gave us a bowl in preparation for our main course, he moved it to the side to make room for our hands. Top tier service.
