We celebrated my birthday here several weeks ago, and it didn't disappoint! This marked our 1st time dining out in 3 months, which is an eternity for me, as my partner was uncomfortable with the COVID situation. Thankfully, I convinced him for this special occasion. We were here once before (2-3 years ago). Back then, they had 2 tasting menus - a larger one and a smaller one. I think COVID changed the way they serve food now with starters, mains, desserts, or all 3 with an omakase bento box.I appreciate the concept of a tasting menu much more. There were more courses, which were smaller. For someone who eats everything and loves variety, I like giving up control and letting it be a surprise to whatever is in season. I hope they bring this back eventually.Thankfully, Mak n Ming still changes up their menu. I love restaurants that keep innovating and keep you on your toes. It's a reason to come back again and again.Of course, I had to opt for the full meal with omakase bento box. Forgive me as my memory fails me. We went here before I decided to make a food blog. The box was beautifully presented with fresh uni on a cracker boat, fish ceviche on a crostini of sorts, raw oyster with tobiko, and a flavoured choux pastry. Pricing considered, this was a good deal for just $13 more.My partner chose the crab chawanmushi with seaweed and brown butter as his appetizer. This was wonderfully seasoned, and the cubes of egg custard (which I thought I wouldn't enjoy) were amazing. I had the hiramisa (yellow amberjack) with floral cut beets and radish. It was very fresh with a nice light sauce. Now to the main. We ordered the same thing. I want to say it was lamb belly with these beautiful wild mushrooms. This dish was very filling! The meat was tender and the flavour combination worked well. For dessert, we took their recommendation of coconut pudding, which came with mango puree and lychees. It was a light refreshing way to end a very substantial meal and nice contrast to the lamb.Update: Bento boxes and salads for takeout! The last time we had something similar was the takeout bentos from Stem Japanese Eatery (highly recommended and will post about it later) when they were offering a discount for pre-ordering.As a fine dining restaurant, they had to pivot to takeout so they change their menu weekly and you have to pre-order. We had the Lamb Curry, Gem Salad, Watercress Salad, Chicken Karaage, and Wild Mushrooms. The lamb was super tender (almost like a roasted ham) and the curry sauce was 100% Japanese in flavour with good umami. The salads were good, but I did wish they were bigger in portion. The Gem had a creamy dressing and the Watercress had a vinegrette type dressing. The chicken would have been better piping hot. Finally, the mushrooms were great, very earthy.I'm definitely staying tuned for their upcoming bento X ceramics collaboration, where you order food and they present it in local handmade ceramics for you to keep. I'm a s***** for handmade ceramics.Follow me @vinaeatsandtreats on Instagram for more honest restaurant and baking recipe reviews!

They have such a beautiful intimate space and every single detail, from the interior design, to the wonderful service and food is just impeccable and so well thought out. They are also offering takeout bentos, which I've gotten a couple of times since the start of the pandemic and they've been amazing every time. Already looking forward to the next takeout bento I get from them! :)

Hidden little gem in Kits. Romantic, small restaurant near Kits Beach. Small menu, but they do everything well. We had the tasting menu and loved everything about this place. We look forward to coming back.

By far the best dining experience I have had in Vancouver to date. Their wine list is fun and full of great choices. Service and staff all top notch, friendly, and professional. A memorable meal and experience every time I go!

This restaurant is located in Kitsilano and parking can be a pain. The restaurant is small with only four or five tables, but it has a warm and cozy atmosphere and offers outstanding customer service. They are known for their innovative, contemporary fusion dishes. We basically tried everything on the Dine Out menu. The food looked exquisite but nothing was mind blowing. For the price point and all the hype, I think I was expecting a little more. This place is definitely a great option for a date night or to celebrate for special occasions though!? Price:$54 pp + tax + tips (Vancouver Dine Out Pricing )?Taste: 3 / 5? Price Performance ratio: 2 / 5?Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Seating: ⭐️⭐️

Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter- the food was OUTSTANDING!! We went for dine out and the 2 of us ordered EVERYTHING on the menu and shared which was they way to go. Small and intimate setting- very COVID safe distancing. You must order the cornbread and the flatiron steak with plum sauce. Will definitely be back

Came here for dine out and it was a very nice, cute and cozy experience. Pleasantly surprised by the portions. An enjoyable meal and atmosphere, I would only wish the avocado sauce was flavored a bit more for the tuna katsu. Or the dressing on the slaw. A lot of good elements but not a lot of flavor came through.

Definitely brilliant. French handling added on Japanese base ingredients, great execution. Especially loved the unique texture of bite on every dishes in different way. Coconut pudding was also matched well, loved the waterly fresh note.

Did Dine Out to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is quite small proving a nice ambiance however it also meant that people's conversations were quite loud. Aside from the 3 course meal, we also added the corn bread with honey butter. That butter is so good with caramelized bits. I'd come back on a special occasion. The added touch of taking a Polaroid photo for us for the occasion was sweet.

Very very small cozy restaurant at local neighbourhood in kits that is asian fusion. Reservation is highly recommended as the restaurant is small , come prepare. They rotate their menu on a regular basis so its never a dull moment. Highly recommended- the chawanmushi. They have different flavour ones on rotation, but woah its spectacular. The eggs are cooked perfectly , tender , flavourful and full of goods, in my case lots of foie gras . Bento box tasting is recommended if its your first time, i the petite four given with the bento box tasting is very cute , and they are on rotations too. You would get one petite four, starter , main and dessert. Go with a group of four so you can try all of the menu items. Bento Box -the lamb loin belly that we had was super super awesome too , i would savour every bite. -chestnut meringue and coconut pudding is a must try. Yummm.

Come here with old friend whom she live in Kitsilano over 40 years ,fussy and love eat out like me , the restaurant is only block away from the beach off west side of kitsilano , place not big very small for restaurant ,and run by husband and wife team , clean ,airy ,relax ,it is a Japanese ,Asian ,French fusion , I walk pass so many time , and keep on walking , because it is so pricy , safety plan nicely done , Dine out Vancouver menu is $54 per person , I have no problem with them , very interesting ,not much to choose from , only two option , but quality is very high end , ,I choose the Tuna katsu for appetizer and Squid rice and chees cake ,, my friend like her too ,(we both order the same thing! ) delicious ,top quality ,portion little small what you pay , but my taste buds agree with me that worth every penny ,well balance of flavours like Yin and Yang friendly staff ,well recommend it for Dine out Vancouver , I will visit again if I am in the area .

Small boutique restaurant in Kitsilano - great host/server, friendly staff, but unique and great food. For the Dine Out, I wish there was one more course - perhaps a small one just to round out the experience.
