Absolutely brilliant! we drove past this place for 2 years, thinking every day that we should stop by, and now we regret that we did after so long :) Very very tasty broths (we tried pork and kimchi), fresh vegetables and meats; you cook ur own meal, even the ice creams were excellentOh, and the service is lovely, and they insist that you do not leave a tip following Japanese true traditions!

I was hesitant to go here because it looks so dark inside from outside, but it’s actually bright indoors and quite popular and I’m so glad I finally tried it.The food was so delicious and filling! Great to have individual hot pots so you can cook and eat as you like. They do also have some appetizers and options to add extras too. However I’m just giving 4 stars because of the lesser variety, and the assorted vegetables include one bok choy leaf and 2 slices of carrot. So if you like more of an assortment, you might want to just add some extra veg.I’m am stuffed and happy. Still got the ice cream to come. Also great value.

Went here at 5.30 for dinner service as a group of 5. We decided to sit on the bar as the table only have 4 stove, and two of us would have to share a stove. I ordered sukiyaki with extra raw egg once seated. The staff served seaweed salad after a while. When they brought our order to the table, they told us to reduce the temperature of the stove from 200 to 120 when the soup start to boil. I added veggies once it boil, and lower the temperature to 120, but I think it was not hot enough to cook most of my stuff. I eat the beef sparsely by dipping it around 8 seconds. I find the beef was too thick, and not fatty enough. Stove was also a bit far for someone my height (5'7"). After we were done with the meal, they served the ice cream that came with our hot pot order. There was still tiny ice in the ice cream, could be old? Ended up paying about 19 bux for my order. No tips needed which is great! Will probably come again, but not in near future. Lunch is probably more value, I do not think extra +3 for dinner service is worth even though you get free ice cream.

super good spot with individual hot pot stations! which was kind of hard to find in the city! they have spicy kimchi broth which was so super good!

The restaurant absolutely wonderful from the way they serve as well as the food in my point.I used to travel to Japan and had a chance to try Sukiyaki then fall in love right away with the soup base. Usually i made it by myself cause i have try some restaurants and the soup not as my thought. This place impressed me and now will be in my must have listReasonable price for a hotpot included dessertand no tip required following custom in Japan are a plus point.

Although the meal is not large but the price is pretty good. Average 17 for a person and they don’t ask for tips, which means we only need to pay for original price plus tax.

Nabebugyo will blow your mind for healthy and authentic hotpot at an extremely reasonable price. I wish I found this place sooner -- its perfect for solo dining, casual date nights, or lunch with a small group of friends. All for just a little more than what some people would spend at a fast food place

Authentic, delicious. Had the sukiyaki which was perfect comfort food on a winter evening. Can’t wait to try the other dishes.

Our first time here was a little disappointing. We liked the individual hotpot concept, the complimentary ice cream, and that no tipping is required. However, there was very little meat and tofu compared to the amount of greens and mushrooms for the price. Also, no server checked on us after we were served our food. It got so late that one person in our group had to leave before we got our dessert…we had to ask for the dessert and the bill.

Really wanted to love this place, and I might give it another try but their portions fell short. Too much cabbage and not enough veggie variation, noodles or tofu. The menu appeared to be more tasty than the final product itself, sad to say.. great concept overall of individual hotpot, no tipping as Japanese custom and the included ice cream dessert.

I was a bit disappointed with my whole experience eating shabu at Nabebugyo. I came on a Thursday evening at 6 pm, and half the seats were full. My friend and I got seated immediately. The menu here is pretty straightforward. You can choose from one of many shabu sets with different broths, and each set comes with some meat and vegetables. All shabu sets also come with a bowl of rice, seaweed salad, and a scoop of ice cream. Since it was my first time here, I went with the sukiyaki set ($15.95) with pork. I regretted getting the sukiyaki. Since the flavor was very strong, everything I cooked in it, especially the veggies and noodles, absorbed the overly strong flavor from the sauce. On top of that, there was no dipping sauce, so I could only rely on the broth flavor. By the end very little broth was left and it was hard to cook the last couple items. I thought the servers would refill my pot with some additional water or broth or something, but they didn't do anything. The portion, especially for the meat, was a bit on the small side. I was full by the end, but it was mostly from the rice and udon noodles. One more thing - I thought the pot was positioned a little far from the seat. For someone with short arms like me, it was a bit hard to reach the pot.

I was pleasantly surprised by how great my experience was here! The flavours of the hot pot broth were amazing and quite strong. It came with a ton of vegetables, particularly mine because I ordered the NO MEAT option which seems to be available for any hot pot selection. The meat option, too, doesn't seem to have an absurd amount of meat and relies more on the broth and veggies to create a balanced and delicious meal. The service was fast, and so friendly. Our server was very communicative when it came to allergen information, which is much appreciated. I hope these servers make great wages; because I felt bad that they don't accept tips here!!

Great price for what it is, great service! Its generally a place where I go eat to feel great afterwards, nothing too heavy but satisfied. However, if you are not a person who likes doing hotpot on their own or less intense flavours I do not think this is the place for you.I love sukiyaki tho

Drove by this place all the time and didn't think anything of it. As soon as I walked in I thought it was the cutest little joint ever. Lots of doubles and single seating in a u shape and then booths around it. Everybody gets their own individual pot and induction plate. The meals for me were particularly a little small, but they were cheap for what you got. You got a choice of three or four different types of soup bases and then multitude of different options that you can choose for the veg and protein. Averaging about $17. I think the most interesting thing about this place besides being a mom-and-pop joint is that we're cultural reasons. They do not want you to tip. Can't say that's not refreshing but also felt awkward too because I think we are so used To tipping for table service.Great atmosphere, nice and clean and spacious. Will definitely come back again when I'm not too hungry.
