The food at this place is way better than it has any right to be - like something you might have at a highend restaurant. The Argentinian Prawn Tobiko Udon I had was a revelation. The decor rocks too!!

Came in with my husband on a rainy Monday night. The vibe is lovely and warm and cozy, the server was friendly and good at her job, the drinks and food were great. The ahi tuna tostada was a particular standout. Loved it. Thanks for an excellent date night!Vegetarian options: We had the cauliflower, which I believe is vegan, and it was excellent.

Smells great, looks great, foods great and service was fast. Staff and live band were superb.
We had a big group gathering and Alex who’s attending us was truly the best. Alex was very attentive, kind, and very accommodating. I can’t give enough praise for how pleasant of an experience it was. The atmosphere was great, the music selection was also great and not too loud. The drinks were also lovely. Definitely will come back. Truly a gem of a hangout spot.

Can't say enough good things about the Painted Ship, the staff, and the food. Came in last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and the staff were very kind and helped us surprise our friend with our store-bought cake. The food--tacos, oyster mushrooms, guac-- was all spot on and the room is nice and comfortable. But what made the night was the great service from the staff, the best I've received in a long time in Vancouver. Will definitely be back!

Not sure why so many 5-star reviews. Our waitress was the bartender, polite and courteous, so no issues there. However, my red wine was cold out of the fridge, which wasn't pleasant. It should be left out before serving. Eclectic menu, with small portions, so poor value for price. Although nice flavors, menu lacks basics and small portions. I would not come back.

My boyfriend and I came in for the Wednesday pedal steel show, thinking that 30 min before the show would be enough to get a seat. The place was PACKED when we arrived, and ended up waiting outside for nearly 2 hours to get in to see the second set. Throughout the whole process Syd managed everyone really well even though some people were getting angry at being turned away at the door. When we did get a seat, the drinks and food arrived fast, even with the bar being packed wall to wall. Everyone on the staff was really kind and super efficient. 4 staff on a crazy night like that is unreal, and they did an incredible job! We'll be sure arrive early when we come next month!
