It was a loved one's celebration dinner and they picked this spot to visit. I hadn't heard of this place before but we found out they're part of the Zakkushi group. There was a large variety of food and drinks! We enjoyed many snacks alongside some beer (Sapporo) & sake (but forgot to note down the name of the sake - oops). The restaurant is decorated with a lot of sake bottles and even the washrooms had a lot of sake labels or bottle caps. It was a neat touch. We received great & attentive service and the vibe is energetic but cozy. The food was a little slow to come out but it was quite tasty and fresh so we didn't mind too much! Some of our favourites were the Uni miso hotate ($18), beef yuke ($18.50), ikayaki ($18), uzura maki or quail eggs wrapped in sliced pork skewer ($4.10), and the negitongue skewer ($4.70). The food is more on the pricy side since they're also smaller portions, but it's a nice spot for a special occasion!

The service and atmosphere here is nice. Great experience while having the meal.However, the food didn't seem fresh to me, especially the salmon sashimi and the beef tataki, and I got food poisoning after the meal:)

I was served food that I didn't ask for many times, and in the end, I made a mistake in the number of yakitori pieces, and when I told the customer, ``No, it's in the system'', I didn't understand what he meant. In the end, I was told that it was a service charge, but I laughed because they charged me so much. Well, it was about $5, so I deducted that amount from the tip and paid, but I wonder if this is a new type of scam or something? It's extremely unpleasant. It's such a shame, because it was such an important day.There are too many Japanese servers these days who are really uneducated.

Disappointing experience….. Came to this restaurant because of all those 5-star reviews. We ordered about 10 dishes and only the beef tartare was good and sashimi was ok. The atemaki we ordered tasted sooo weird. Plus all the dishes came in very small portion. Like other reviewers mentioned, the waiting time among dishes was long. There are way better Japanese restaurants out there in Vancouver. The food quality didn’t worth the price.
I was in Vancouver for only 2 nights. The food was so good the first night, I went back the second night to try some of the other snacks and sake on offer. Many excellent sakes beyond the sampler flight. The Oden was a nice find. Service was excellent. The staff was attentive, not stifling. Seems popular with the hip and young. Dim lighting was great for ambiance but not so great for my tired eyes. Had to pull out the phone flashlight. Definitely go back next time I'm in town again.

As a former chef and being a Japanese descendant, I always seek traditional restaurants that don’t cut corners in all aspects nor exploit customers with ridiculous prices as I’m aware of what the purchasing costs of food and drinks are (lol)Hashigo gets my thumbs up in terms of food, service, price points and atmosphere. I felt like I was back in Japan, dining at a great Izakaya in all aspects!The food and the company was so good I unfortunately forgot to take photos and videos of all the items I ordered but definitely will next time! And soon!
