So disappointed that I didn't discover this hidden gem earlier - very affordable pricing for such a huge portion. Makes me feel like I'm in east van getting a good deal on restaurant food again. You can immediately taste that they're hand pulled noodles and not machine cut. Super soft and chewy. The broth was flavourful and very warming (great if you're feeling under the weather) - just slightly on the saltier side. Service was friendly enough in my opinion. Highly recommend.

So delicious! A hole in the wall with some classic chinese dishes. Their spicy cold noodle is my absolute favourite! Must try!

Fresh and hot. Spicy!

I can't speak for the rest of the menu- but the spicy oil noodles with vegetables and the cumin lamb are amazing!!! I've never had such great noodles with amazing chew and texture, and the seasoning is just spicy enough with a good amount of salt to give it great flavor, not just heat! The cumin lamb was like something I've never had before, such great flavor and so tender!!!

Great lamb burger...the beef noodle soup was pretty good too with a taste of herbal flavor.

Delicious hand pulled noodles! Absolutely loved it! So glad we found this place on our day trip to Vancouver! I'm a s***** for anything soup and noodles so finding this place was heaven. They have a simple menu with some noodles dishes, rice dishes and appetizers. We got the braised brisket noodle soup with the hand pulled noodles, eggplant with rice & pancake appetizer. I loved the soup and noodles. Let me tell you the perfect bite: a spoonful of soup with a small piece of the brisket and bok choy (or whatever green veggie it was) and a dash of the chili mixture - just heaven in your mouth! I also liked the eggplant and rice. It had a little bit of ground beef mixed into it as well. The pancake was okay, I wouldn't order it again since I thought it fell flat in comparison to our other two dishes. Overall, everything tasted so fresh and yummy! If I'm ever back in Vancouver this will be one of my first stops!

Great discovery, truly delicious chinese food. We tried spicy oil noodles, braised beef noodle in soup and scallion pancakes. Spice oil noodles are on the spicier side made with flat noodles oil and red Cajun paper. I only tried the broth of braised beef noodle in soup as it was ordered by my friend and it was rich in flavor definitely appetite booster. Scallion pancakes were delicious and light. Overall, writing this review makes me crave those pancakes more. The service is poor so I take off one star for that.

I went there by myself at about 7:30pm and surprisingly nobody else was there, the benefit was I got my food ready very fast. Authentic stewed noodle 羊肉烩面, very tasty Chinese Hamburg 孜然羊肉夹馍 if you like spicy food. Highly recommended!

Extremely good noodle soup. Giant bowls for 12.99. Definitely sharable. Service with a smile would have earned it 4.5!

This place is hands down the best Chinese food I've had in Vancouver so far. It's not the type of Chinese food that's popular at so many Chinese restaurants either. It's quite unique and probably from regions that are less represented in Chinese restaurants in the city. I've had three dishes here so far: the spicy oil noodles with vegetables, the cold noodles, and the cumin lamb burger. Every one has been amazing and incredibly flavourful, but the spicy oil noodles are specially outstanding. The spiciness is a very... gentle?... slow burn rather than what I've been used to with spicy dishes elsewhere. Overall, you owe it to yourself to try this place. Only caveat: don't expect world class table service.

Yu Noodle House was an easy bookmark for our trip to Vancouver because this restaurant serves Henan style Chinese cuisine and that's my wife's family hometown. She told me the Yu in the name is Henan. Now I can compare since I've been there recently. This is a small restaurant located along Burrad about 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver. It's sort of clean and spacious, but this feels like one of those restaurants that need a good mopping. The menu isn't very extensive with only about 30 main items (rice and bread don't count), but it does offer the Henan dishes such as Dapanji, Cumin Lamb, Lamb Noodle Soup, and Lamb Soup with Bread soaked in. Needless to say my wife was excited to have her hometown food. Same as me if I had real Cantonese food. We started with the Lamb Noodle Soup, and wow, it is really the bare basics. Hui Mian (flat rice noodles), slices of lamb, broth, and scallions and cilantro. The broth was bland and watery, and lacked any kind of flavor. The lamb tasted old. The meat was slight dried and tough and there was barely any lamb taste. The lamb should be in cubes. The noodles were fine, but not easy to eat with everything so bland and boring. This noodle soup tells me they're too lazy or cheap to add anything to it to make it better. Even salt. The Dapanji (Big Plate Chicken) looked right, but depressing at the same time. I really feel it's a Canada thing because this was bland as well, especially the pieces of chicken, which looked old and overcooked. It's like salt, chicken powder, and MSG are banned for use or something, and the chicken really felt like leftover chicken because that's how it looks like when I reheat chicken the next day. The best part was the potatoes, which soaked in all the flavor (possibly from over night/s). The best thing we are here that was kilometers ahead of everything else was the Cumin Lamb Roujiamo (Burger). The flavors were excellent! It had a nice strong cumin flavor with a good hot of spice, the meat was tender and tasty, and the bread was spot on. Soft on the inside and crispy outside. It was mashed in with a bunch of cilantro. Luckily these were old cilantro where the flavor and taste are almost nonexistent. I'm not a big fan of the cilantro taste in Chinese cooking. Overall, besides the excellent Cumin Lamb Roujiamo, the Dapanji and Lamb Noodle soup were way off the mark and really felt like leftover food. The service was nonexistent besides bringing our tea and taking our order. There were other tables too and I could notice them always looking around for the server. The blandness is getting common after several meals with noodle soup that I'm wondering if it's just a Canada thing. My wife thought it was really off the mark as well, and not authentic whatsoever. But every restaurant has its own style of lamb noodle soup, especially the broth. I guess this was the ultra bare minimum style.

After seeing some great reviews on Yelp, we decided to go check it out. We ordered: Lamb noodles in soup Braised beef noodle in soup Spicy cumin lamb burger We got the thick noodles for the two noodle soups, which I have found I typically preferred for this cuisine. We sat at a table where we were able to have a peek at the handpulling in action in the kitchen via the open door, which was cool. We love lamb, so were excited to try the lamb noodle. I think we were a little underwhelmed on the flavour, which was a bit bland. I was expecting a stronger lamb flavour. The beef noodles were decent, but the broth was also quite bland for my taste. Perhaps Northeastern Chinese cuisine is more on the lighter side of things? The noodles themselves were good and chewy, no complaints there. The star of the show turned out to be the spicy cumin lamb burger actually - it was so good that my partner ordered another serving after we devoured the first. It was also nice that it was served piping hot, and less oily than other places we've had it. The meat was a little drier though, but the flavour made up for it.

Great find in this neighbourhood. Service is always friendly and prompt. Their thick noodles are delicious, have been trying to find this kind of noodles in this part of town. Really enjoy the spicy oil noodle. Their lamb soup is also very rich in flavour and not so gamey. Recently tried their garlic eggplant with pork which was tasty as well, with a bit of spice. Their spicy beef "burger" was alright, the beef was tasty but not too significant. The bun was okay, but I generally don't like them anyways so who am I to judge. Great for dine-in and take-out.
