This was my final Japanese restaurant I had yet to try in Vernon.After multiple visits to Japan and annual trips to Asia, it is great to see Vernon have a large number of Asian restaurants.J-Don has been here for a long time. Donburi and Udon dishes are most commonly ordered here. It's definitely their specialties.I really like how the restaurant is decorated and how bright it is.They give you a tray for your bowl, a cup of water, and chopsticks.The Veggie Don came to $15.33 after tax. Love this place! I've been coming since I was a kid and now I love bringing my own kids here. The food is delicious (California Don is my personal favourite) and the people are always wonderful and kind. 100% would recommendKid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.

We walked the length of 30 Avenue looking for a place to eat and there were a couple of Asian places, another Japanese but the decor or ambience didn't pull me in. When I passed this one, I knew this was the place for me! It's a very quiet place, clean, minimal. I order the teriyaki and I got to say it's probably the best chicken teriyaki I've ever had! The chicken was tender and grilled to perfection so each bite was a pleasure and it just felt right with the rice. I was really happy with my meal - cheap, favoursome, felt authetic. Washed down with green tea. I'm still talking about this dish! My friend, on the otherhand didn't enjoy his salad as it wasn't what he was expecting. I told him a Japanese salad is different from a western salad. He said it was too wet, soupy in texture so he didn't eat it all. Wish this was based in London as I would definitely be a regular!
Delicious food with a quaint atmosphere. There is enough selection here for most dietary needs. J Don has a small, well-lit dining space with some semblance of a little Cafe. The Don bowl was served efficiently and flavors were fantastic; a filling portion at an affordable price. Between atmosphere and food this spot is worth a frequent visit!

Consistently great food for many years!!!! Every time I eat there, the food is the same great quality. It's nice because I know that I can go back and get the meal I'm looking for with no worry that something may have changed over time.I'm amazed that this place has such great quality consistency.

Had a veggie Donburi, it was succulent and good portion for the price. The service and kindness of the staff is beyond good, real Japanese kindness and respect in every aspect from taking your order, collecting the money to give you the dish in such a notable way. Arigato!
