The food was delicious. The fish was fresh and their tempura was perfectly crisp. We had their assorted aburi and the fish was seared nicely and it felt like it melted in my mouth. Not chewy. The tempura was nicely battered not too thick. Our server was cheerful, kind and checked up on us to see how we were doing with our meal.

Food and service was fantastic! The menu is amazing. The interior could use a bit of an update but it is overall a great place. Best fusion Japanese on the north shore. A bit pricey but well worth the splurge.

EVERYTHING. But the favourites are the butteryaki, speckled scallop roll, agedashi tofu, chili prawns, and the absolute scene stealer, the tuna tataki roll. You can't go wrong, though, no matter what you order.

Always love the food at Zen but wow, expensive! Their signature roll "Popcorn Shrimp Roll" is $20 and must cost them $1 to make. It is such a good roll but it is obvious they over charge because they know people will pay. Quality of food has always been excellent which is why we come back but the staff hasn't always been the friendliest.

All four of us absolutely loved our food, from the rolls to the entrees. The seafood gratin I personally had was one of the most original and best things I've eaten in a long time. Service was great and it's a nice little spot in a cool area. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good Japanese dinner spot.

The food here was always stellar but honestly the prices are way too high! The owners seem to feel that it’s ok to charge such prohibitive prices because their demographic supports this, but to me that is just morally unacceptable and inappropriate. $8.95 or $9.95 for edamame is just so wrong! And average price for a roll is $23.95! This is beyond inflationary costs!
