It's a local bar and restaurant with German decors and cuisine. Indoor and outdoor seating.Food looks good and delicious. Curry sauce has a kick (good way) but schnitzel was a bit dry.Full bar with good variety of beers and cocktails. Big screen good for sports watching.Good for kids, groups, meetups and couples.Staff are responsive and friendly. Plenty of space and tables. Beautiful and comfortable bar stools. Food being served at the bar too.Parking might be a bit challenging due to lack of street parking. However there is a plaza across the street where you can park and walk to the restaurant ?Vegetarian options: Few vegetarian options.Parking: Hard to find street parking. There is plaza parking across the street to park and walk.

Nice to sit outside on a sunny day. 2 sizable rooms inside. Food is good. It can add up if you want a little bit of many things.

Ok. I went with my friend from Germany and she confirmed, this place is wonderful. We had the potato pancakes. So crispy. Apple sauce was creamy. A must with the PP. I had Jager Schnitzel and my daughter had Weiner Schnitzel. Delicious. The WS was crispy and the pork was moist. The mushroom sauce on the JS was delicious. Pork was devine. My friend had cabbage rolls. He said they were almost as good as Moder used to make. The atmosphere was nice. We went early to avoid a crowd. There is a little parking lot. Service seemed a bit rushed but overall very good. I would rate it 2nd only to the Hoffbrau in Lake Tahoe!! Well done Alameda. ?

Just out boppin around with my pal Allhans Ondek after spending the day on his fishing boat, looking for stripers, we were hungry and heading to the Speisekammer Restaurant for some Wiener Schnitzel. His boat, The Slippery Beaver, named after his ex-wife is moored in Alameda, and not too far from the Speisekammer Restaurant, Allhans tells me they prepare the best Schnitzel in the world! So, with a recommendation like that...I've got to go.And I'll tell you what...the Schnitzel was Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Very clear gluten free options on the menu! Service was excellent - they made me a custom non-alcoholic beverage and offered to take it back if it didn't taste good. Lovely atmosphere. Potato pancakes are amazing.

Poached beef tri-tip in horseradish cream sauce, only available for ARW 2024. Glad it's not on the regular menu. Very tender but too lean and dry. The sauce really saved the day, but only if you can handle the kick from horseradish.

Speisekammer is a unique and enjoyable restaurant in Alameda. The food is distinctly in the German style and the flavours and tastes match that choice (the mustard is really mustard - seriously, it's delicious). Plus, the best part of this is the large selection of beers. From multiple Hefeweizen, spaten, to lagers and more. Totally worth the time to come back and try the different choices.I enjoy spending time here - and the front patio is great, and the fireplace in the back is toasty.Definitely worth a visit or two!

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Speisekammer—they are what makes this place so special. From Hannah behind the scenes to Johnna, Kara, Liz, Krissy, Alex and too many other amazing staff members to name. We have come here for years and years and the low turnover tells us that the staff is taken care of and helps keep things consistent, familiar and inviting. Peter and Cindy may be passing the torch, but we are hopeful that with new ownership, we will be able to continue to enjoy this Alameda institution for many more years to come. Delicious food and drinks served by kind and engaging staff in a cozy, warm and charming German environment... what more can I ask for? Prost!!

Immerse yourself in the charming ambiance of Speisekammer Restaurant & Bar, where exposed brick walls and soft lighting create a cozy retreat. The beer selection is a highlight, offering an impressive array that caters to beer connoisseurs. From rich stouts to crisp lagers, there's something for every palate.Dive into the culinary journey with the menu's German classics, showcasing the chef's expertise in traditional flavors. Savor hearty dishes like schnitzels and bratwurst, or explore more innovative options that blend culinary influences. The commitment to quality ingredients is evident in each dish.Navigating the limited on-site parking is worth the effort, but fret not—ample street parking in the vicinity ensures a hassle-free dining experience. Speisekammer Restaurant & Bar stands out as a delightful haven for those seeking a combination of excellent ambiance, a diverse beer selection, and a menu that captures the essence of German cuisine with a contemporary twist.
