BEST Taiwanese beef noodle soup hands down! I've never been wow'd by Taiwanese beef noodle soup and this place was a first! They're a small shop but has some big tables for large groups. Food:- House special braised beef noodle (5/5): the soup is PACKED with flavor. Tendon is so soft. Noodle is perfectly cooked. - Braised pork rice (4/5): tender pork. Not too flavorful. Decent dish overall- Pig ears with red oil (4/5): on the less crunchy side but good flavor- Red oil wontons (2/5): both the wontons and chili oil lacked flavor

Parking: easily missed. One entrance and exit and it's a half open structure. There's more parking underground but cramped spaces. Got the signature braised pork rice with chopped peppers instead of the regular braised pork rice. The chopped peppers added a nice kick. Braised pork, rice, and mix of vegetables were a good blend in a bite. Food came out really fast. Solid comfort Taiwanese food. It didn't blow away all the other competitors out of the water though.

Oof. This place is spicy.. but mainly just the pig ears. We ordered the following:Pig ears - so good! But I really can't handle the Szechuan spice!! I was drinking so much water and eating the side dish of vegetables to mitigate the spice. I don't usually eat this stuff but I do like it once in a while. Beef noodle soup - I forgot what the actual name of this dish is but it did have beef, noodles and soup. This was very tasty and flavorful! I would definitely order it again. Last dish was a vegetable dish but I can't remember the name of it. I just know we needed to order a veggie dish to even out all the strong meat flavors and have a more balanced meal. That veggie dish did just that! It was the perfect combo of crunch and plainness we needed! Overall this place was pretty good and I'm glad I tried it out! Total bill came out to be $50 for 3 dishes. For what it is.. I think it's a little bit on the pricey side as I would consider this to be a $38-$40 meal but oh well, that's inflation for you! Also parking upstairs is small so go underground. From there, the restaurant is pretty small and in Chinese so it can be hidden. Just look for the red words (characters) with the white background.

Perfect cucumbers, seeds removed with garlic, just delicious.Generous portion of duck, good value, anise flavor.Braised pork rice with rice noodles hit all of the right notes, though another dish with a thinner egg noodle had more flavor and was more al dente. They were out of duck hearts and fermented tofu, alas.5-star place that doesn't quite deserve to be top-101, but unimpeachable.

My favorite braised beef noodle spot at the moment. Their bowl is clean tasting, good quality beef, and chewy noodles. I believe their version is the sichuanese one that uses lots of spices. Get it with some spice for an enhanced flavor profile.

Had noodles there and it tasted so bad. I would say it’s the worst noodles I had ever. Especially the meat, it throws me up and even now my stomach is upset!!!

The food was good but not my favorite (personal preference). Service was also only mediocre. We ordered a few items:Spicy red oil wontons: not spicy at all, or red. The sauce also had the Chinese cooking wine taste which I did not like. The wontons themselves though were made well and tasted good. Lu rou fan (braised pork over rice): cooked well but had a really strong star anise flavor - a bit too overpowering for me. Maybe this is more of a Shanghainese take, not sure. I'm used to a Taiwanese version!Beef noodle soup: by far my favorite dish of the 3. Noodles had a great texture, beef was tender, and the soup had great depth without being too heavy. Would come back just for this!

We tried Lu Yi Xian after reading that it made it to the top 101 restaurants in LA. We ordered the jellyfish appetizer, braised pork rice combo and pork trotter rice combo. I would pass on the jellyfish app bc the flavor wasn't to our liking, it was sweet and sour not a lot of other flavors. My husband and I both thought the meats were braised well, very tender and flavorful especially the trotters. I personally found the flavors a bit too sweet for my liking and not savory enough. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations.

Came on a Monday at 4pm and was seated immediately. There were only 3-4 other tables occupied. The restaurant had smaller tables in front and bigger tables in the back room. Food was good and hit the spot if you wanted something warm and filling. The braised beef noodles were classic and exactly what you would expect - meat was tender and noodles were just right. The braised pork rice was just as good and also came with a bowl of refreshing soup. Portions were pretty big and ended up taking most of the pork rice home for left overs. Overall 4/5, -1 star because cleanliness and service. We did find a piece of hair in our rice plate and it took the servers a good 30 minutes in between giving us our check, processing it and bringing us boxes. A solid place for food and would recommend.

So so good. I wish I thought to take pictures of what we got but we were so excited we just dove in. Can recommend the smashed cucumbers, the braised pork belly and rice, the spicy beef noodle soup and the Shepard dumplings in broth. Thank you to the LA times 101 restaurants list for helping my family find the place. The service was extremely prompt and the owner was nice enough to give us a cookie on account of it being Christmas!

This place is a hidden gem. Hidden to me because I grew up locally in a Chinese family and never heard of this place then again I don't know if they were around as long as The Hat across the street of the opposite corner. This place serves authentic Chinese food and I don't ever remember any of the dish names but they are familiar to me because my grandma would make them so home. Braised pork and rice was a staple dish in my household when I was growing up and this restaurant serves it. They also serve a house special noodle which was also familiar and tasty. I'd like to return and try their duck. I highly recommend this place and don't be afraid if you don't speak Chinese, they have English subtitles in the menu and a friendly staff. They are also rated an A for food and safety.Parking: There's an underground parking garageKid-friendliness: Only if your kid likes Chinese food
