First time ordering through doordash because I was in the mood for greens and mac & cheese, lol. Chicken was delicious! Flavorful inside and out. Baked spaghetti was probably one of the best I've had, but be warned bones may be in there. Collard greens were simple, but still good. And the mac & cheese was 100/100. Cornbread was delicious, too. I'd definitely order from here again.

Absolutely worst service ever! Ordered through a delivery app and followed the order, gave them multiple calls because there was some problems with the arrival times etc etc. To say the least, over the phone professionalism was non existent, and they have no type of care for their guests.. seem to me. Soul food is alll about that good feeling, didn't receive it here.

I love this black Owens business, they have large portions friendly staff and tastey variety of sides . They prices are reasonable and when ever I'm in the mood for something close to grandma's cooking I partionize this place not too far from me.

Just moved out to the Antioch area from la and was looking for some good soul food!... was hoping I could find a place like dulan's soul food in Inglewood...and stumbled across southern express here on Yelp...let's just say I'm happy as hell I did!!! Just put it this way the damn deluxe plate didn't make it back to the crib! I had the smothered chops the fish and baked chicken with the rice and gravy yams and extra greens with two muffins AAAAAAAAAAALL THAT S*** HIT HOME!! Seasoned good and all I tore that s*** up!! Lol...I can honestly say I've found my new soul food spot away from home! Keep up the great work southern express

I love this place! The staff is very friendly and more than happy to recommend the specials of the week. Food is always fresh, place is very clean. Their prices are reasonable & portions are good. I place my order online then go straight to the counter for fast pick up.

Good family owned business when you just don't feel like cooking a wholesome family meal tonight

This spot has really good soul food--and that's saying a lot for me because I am a soul food critic. I tasted the fried fish, chicken, and pork chop and all three were very tasty. The only small issue is that the pork chop was a little over cooked, but I gave them a pass because it's pork and I'd rather have it well done. I also tried the lemon pound cake and I was oh so happy with the experience. I tried the greens, Mac and cheese, cabbage, cornbread, and sweet potatoes--all were stunning. Listen, if you like soul food, do yourself a favor and order anything from Southern Express Soul Food.

Driven by there many times. Just ordered thru Door Dash. All I can say is OMG!!! I got fried chicken, smothered pork and yams!! My sister got the cabbage and baked chicken....nephew got baked spaghetti. It is soooo good! And I'm full too. This is my favorite place now!!!

Woman who cooks in back cooks with no mask , she stares at you hoping you’ll say something. I don’t eat there but always pickup orders for Grubhub . I’m sure the food is good but the hospitality is hostile.

I've been ordering from this place for the last 2 years on Doordash and I'm very glad I found it. Now, the spot isn't perfect but they consistently have quality food that just tastes on point. There are some cons though: -Their Black Eyed Peas are sometimes suspect and taste like one of them Smokey Robinson canned Black Eyed Peas joints. You can't taste nann hamhock or turkey neck in that piece. Real One's know wassup and this spot usually tastes like a Real One is in that kitcken. But sometimes they play too much. Put yo feet in them beans!!! -Baked Chicken (aka BBQ Chicken) can be over seasoned and even too salty, and you know we brothas gotta watch our sodium. Aside from that though it's usually bomb and the meat falls off the bone. -Y'all know that Peach Cobbler needs to bake a little longer. But the Pros far outweigh the cons: -Fried Chicken is flames. -Fried Fish is flames. -Pork Chops (for my swine eating brethren) is flames. -The sides (cabbage, greens, mac n' cheese, candied yams, potato salad, etc) are all consistently bomb. Real talk, order yourself a Deluxe Plate with 2x Fried Fish, 1x Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Cabbage, and an extra side of Greens. That ish is a spiritual experience yo. Especially with a cold glass of lemonade and then top it off with the banana pudding joint. It was like I was back at Big Momma House, straight up. This spot is the truth.

The only thing great was the line was quick . The food tasted like hospital food , the dressing idk what they thought , it's served like cafeteria food idk if that makes y'all feel more soulful but my fish was right out the frying grease my Togo plate was melted all at the top . The greens were tuff and blan .... where is Hell's Kitchen Gordon Ramsey HELP THEM
