Bakersfield is the halfway point to meet our son to return his dog so we're always looking for a dog friendly restaurant .In the past we've tried the temblor brewing company and the BLVD so we wanted to try something different Athena's Greek Café and Grill. When I first called them they said they would setup a table in the back but when we were on our way there we called again and they said NO DOGS even though they have a sign saying they do allow service dogs. It's located in downtown Bakersfield and At first the location seemed a bit sketchy because we passed a drug rehabilitation home a block away and there was a homeless guy in the parking lot with his bed mattress. It seems the further east you go the worse it gets which is the reason we haven't tried the Pyrenees restaurant yet. Getting back to the food review the service was great. we called in the order ahead of time and everything was ready the prices were a little on the high side we spent over $100 to feed four of us and we had it to go. Here's a list of what we ordered - [x] two baklava''s that were delicious $6.50 each - [x] two spanakopita $11.49 each, we got them to go uncooked and baked them the next day and it was spot on delicious. I would come back just to buy this - [x] chicken pita $13.49 was OK - [x] one order seasoned fries $8.99 OK - [x] Chicago style gyro $13.49 OK - [x] gyro plate with fries $19.99 OK If you want a five star Michelin Restaurant You're not gonna find it in Bakersfield however triple D gave it a thumbs up so we thought we'd try it out and it wasn't bad, So until the next visit we're probably gonna try the Pyrenees next but I hear bikers are welcome so I may wear my motorcycle Harley Davidson shirt just to fit in with the regulars at the bar, and that's the rest of this review!

77 dollars of crap!!! I would have saved money at Arby's! disgusting no stars. they told me they wouldn't refund me cause I bought from Uber eats dooooo noooo buyyy!!! There's a reason rosedale closed!!! Anyone that gives this a two star does not know Greek food and should be ashamed they left a review. I'm out of 77 dollars

Excellent steak gyro. Great service from friendly staff. The murals on the walls are awesome. Perfect spot to stop for lunch.

This restaurant was recommended by Guy Fieri. It was on his show Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. When he came he had the stuffed cabbage leaves with lemon sauce and braised beef on pasta. I was hoping to try those 2 dishes but, they weren't on the menu. The place closes at 6pm. We arrived at 5:30pm. The customer service was impressive. We asked what they recommend and they said the Gyro and Platter. We ordered one of each and they were superb. I highly recommend this place.

This restaurant is another gem of Bakersfield full of delicious Greek cuisines. Very friendly customer service. You can dine in or to go ordering is also available. Gyro, Pita, plates and bowls of beef, chicken, lamb, kabobs and also delicious Greek salads. Everything was fresh and delicious. Many healthy choices. This place is a must try. We highly recommend dining here.

I really like this restraunt as it is the only restraunt that offers a Greek Chicken Souvlaki. A couple of decades ago I lived in Melbourne, Australia and there was a shop with the name LAMBS at the corner of Malvern Rd and Chapel Street. Their Chicken Souvlaki was out of this world. Ever since I have been looking for the same experience. I wish Athena's made the same kind of Chicken Souvlaki but at least they make it. Thank you Athena's .. one suggestion though, please add lettuce, onions and tomatoes to your Chicken Souvlaki, it will be perfect!

Owner shouldn't interface with customers.Your version is greatly exaggerated. Also, I've raved about your burger and took my team for in for lunch, spent $$$.I, unfortunately, will never step foot in your restaurant again and will share my experience with others.Stay Soulful.
