Been coming Here for years. As someone who host many people out of town This is the spot where I always send them as the best sushi in town, but unfortunately. My rating has to change ever since they hired the lady with a sleeve arm tattoos. If you love sushi There is no doubt that this establishment is one of the best in Bakersfield!! So I still recommend you check it out!!!BUT There is one thing to have amazing food, AND another thing to hire people who don’t care about customer service. We spend a lot of money here. Because no doubt the prices aren’t cheap, but the food and the atmosphere used to be worth it. However, with the customer service that we received every time that particular waiter serves on us dampens the mood and it makes us rethink our favorite spot. Even simply making a pick up order has now become an unpleasant experience.
I've been going to Ichiban on Oswell for years and have had nothing but great experiences. But recently since Covid happened and the new management, things are drastically different. The prices for items on the menu are wayyy higher (I understand inflation hit everyone...). Tonight I ordered take out and when I got home I noticed that my side salad I ordered was only like 1/4 of the way full and was inside the small Styrofoam miso soup container. I looked at the receipt and they charged me $6 for the salad! I drove all the way back to the restaurant and asked what's up? They said they would add more salad to the small bowl to fill it up. ??? I turned it down and asked for a refund on the salad instead. Completely ridiculous to charge your customers that much for like 3 pieces of lettuce and sneak it in on a to-go order. Because of this and the management, I will not be ordering from here anymore. Beware!!

Ichiban sushi discriminate against me for forcing me to pay tip. They should know better that I cannot talk and cannot hear. I do not appreciate how congress and courts run away without educating this restaurant not to force me as a deaf person. I refuse going back. I tear coupon. See you later! Bye!I have other google map account to say in past. Now I say different in my other Google map account to say different. I do not seen same what they done to me. Have guts Never to go there. No wonder I cannot sleep almost daily. I felt so stress showing my lost interests in this kind of behavior. People uneducated how to respect my space.

The place was clean the tables were clean we were seated properly the reason I rated this place of one is because the food has no taste I had to put a bunch of salt and pepper on it just to get taste and then I had to ask for the salt and pepper I did not eat the sushi I had to chicken fried rice and the spring rolls this place is overpriced way overpriced

My husband picked me up a couple of rolls today, as we had been here a few times, and it was always pretty good. I'm not sure if they treat to-go orders differently, but it was overall not great. The rolls tasted comparable to what one would get at a Chinese buffet. The fish was good, but the rice was off-texture, unseasoned, and patchy. I've never come across a SUSHI restaurant that forgets to season the sushi rice. The ginger was just thrown in there, so both the rolls tasted heavily of pickled ginger. On top of that, the price was the same as other sushi places that produce consistent, quality food. I wish I had asked him to pick up Jin.

The food is always great when I come here. The atmosphere and how quickly the waitress gets your order in is awesome. I ordered a Las Vegas roll and an Ex Wife roll with extra spicy mayo and eel sauce. Always a have to get are the Dragonballs !
