An awesome place to eat! The food was amazing! We had the nachos, taco salad, garlic chicken sandwich, and the phenomenal chocolate cake!! You cannot skip the dessert!! All of it was delicious! Their patio has comfortable backyard feels! Beautiful surroundings. The service was friendly, cheerful and generous! Portions were large!! I highly recommend Jake's!!

Checked this place out for the first time, great portion sizes for the price. Tri tip was pretty good, cheesy potatoes were one of the best I've had. Staff was very friendly, and made our first experience a good one. Cool cafe style restaurant.

Food - We didn't like our burritos - too salty, poor flavor! Chairs too small. Ambiance - Crowded & noisy. It was a cool day & it was even cooler in the restaurant. Uncomfortable, first & last time we eat here.

When you spend $12 for a sandwich, at a BBQ place no less, you expect to get your money's worth for something tasty. This did not happen here.Look at the photo I took of their chicken sandwich. It is literally three badly cut tomatoes, a suggestion of lettuce, barely any cheese, no honey mustard flavoring at all despite that being a selling point, and quite literally a handful of chicken. It tasted as good as it looked - sad, bad, and drier than sand. I could have went to Subway and gotten a footlong with all the fixings for the same price that would taste far better than the sawdust the chicken was.Jakes has really gone downhill over the last 5ish years, and finally my mom, who was the only reason we even came here, has decided never go here again because "...for charging $40 for half a family size, I expect it to at least taste good."Very, very disappointed to see how far this restaurant has fallen, and how the portions got so small while the prices have skyrocketed.

I've tried to like Jake's but it's just not good... Their Lemon Cake is delicious but that's it.

I love the taco salads they are big & yummy! The sandwiches look a little smaller than I remember, but just as yummy! The reason for the 4 stars is the price! 2 taco salads, one sandwich and 3 medium drinks was over $60.00 without the tip but when you look at the prices online they are less????? What's going on here????? Sorry that's just crazy prices! They are very busy and parking is still difficult and so is finding a seat if you are dining in especially during lunchtime!

The only issue we have is parking and it gets very loud but otherwise we love it! We're here a couple times a month.

Jakes is a great lunch or dinner spot and has some great Bakersfield staples. I normally order a burrito and it is big enough to share. I took off a star because their meat tends to be extremely dry so it has to be eaten with some kind of sauce otherwise it is inedible.

Too small to sit comfortably and eat. Food barely warm. Tri-tip better served at home off the barbecue.
