My boyfriend and I joined my parents to celebrate my moms birthday. We haven't been in years but we used to come here frequently so we're excited to return. Mariana, our server, helped us decide to never come back due to her service. We thought maybe she was having an off day because she first got one of our drinks wrong which she corrected and mistakes happen, it's fine. Then I ordered my meal: a taco, enchilada, and tamal plate. That's what I said while ordering it also. I ordered the taco no lettuce (I'm strange I know). We got our food and I see lettuce on the taco. I let it go and gave it to somebody at the table because it's not uncommon for this to happen to me. It's super rare to have somebody want a taco with no lettuce so I normally just shrug it off. But then as I'm eating, I realize I was given a chile relleno instead of a tamale. As somebody who has worked in customer service for years and is now in Managment, I try not to burden any servers or workers with issues like this but given 2 of 3 of my items were incorrect, I brought it to her attention. Her response was to argue with me about what I ordered. "That's what you ordered. You ordered a Number 1." I had no idea what she was talking about because I didn't use a number to order. So I explained I was sorry but I don't know what she meant because I verbally said what items I wanted. "What you're saying is a number 2, you ordered a number 1." And shoved the order she wrote down in my face to show me what she had written down. (Where she also had my taco with NO LETTUCE written down I will add) So I had to say again that the numbers didn't mean anything to me because I didn't use them when I ordered but I wanted a tamale. I don't like chile rellenos. She rolled her eyes and said "you ordered it but I'll go and get you a tamale." I am NEVER rude to servers because I don't want to be a Karen but, come on. All you say is "I'm so sorry, let me fix that for you." And carry on. Her attitude put a damper on my mom's birthday and our meal. We decided to opp out of dessert and leave as soon as the check came. We won't be back again.

Me and my husband went for brunch today on a Saturday which we haven't ever been to this location since the other location on stockdale a very long time ago and there wasn't really a lot of options and my go to at every Mexican restaurant for breakfast is chilaquiles and I was told they only have them on Sundays only so that was the 1st strike then the salsa had no flavor,I ordered the enchilada Delmar and I wish I took a picture of the enchilada because I was so so disappointed it was filled with the smallest shrimp so so small and vegetables, I should have complained but I was hungry and didn't want to go the the trouble of ordering something else it was eatable but very very disappointing for hearing that this restaurant has been around for many years, oh and I would never ask my husband to take me hear again and the people that keep going there must not have any taste buds or never tasked real authentic Mexican food the establishment is authentic and our waitress was very nice but not the Mexican food

My husband and I like to sit in the small, cozy section near the bar, away from the main dining room. This gives us a more intimate and personalized experience. He always orders Esther's Delight, which consists of a chili verse taco and a chili reno served on a hot plate with a salad topped with avocado dressing. It always looks delightful, and I suppose that's why it's named Esther's Delight. I usually order the number 14, which includes two cheese and onion enchiladas with a salad topped with the House Thousand Island dressing. I absolutely love the Mexicali enchilada sauce, as no one else makes an enchilada sauce like it! Unfortunately, I can no longer have dairy products, so I ordered the chili verse tostada without cheese. It looked good and tasted delicious and has become my new favorite dish at Mexicali. As soon as we were seated, the busboy brought water to our table. Our waitress, Maria, was cheerful and promptly took our food and drink order. Before we left, the manager stopped by our table to check if everything went well and to tell a fun joke. We enjoyed our dinner and highly recommend Mexicali Restaurant to everyone, and we plan to go back for more!

Passing thru was looking for great Mexican food saw this place outstanding atmosphere inside from what I am use to seeing the food was amazing reccomend the mexicali nacho also if you Stop by ask for Billy as your server I was greeted very well and attentive to every needs with great personality made me feel very welcome to be in the restaurant that even though I was far from home ..will be back soon to see Billy again and to try more delicious food

I ordered nachos ground beef no spicy stuff and guacamole and the guacamole. was too spicy the nachos didn't have ground beef on it, It was terrible, It seems like the to go orders or poorly put together and they should be prepared as if I was dinning in.
