Not far off the 99 freeway.. total miles were misleading when I searched. Maybe a 1-2 miles off the 99 freeway.. When driving up to north.. good.. authentic food spot in Bakersfield.

This is the Best Spot for Tacos, burritos, tortas, in Bakersfield. Open Wednesday- Sunday 5 PM to close. The pastor is bomb, the carnitas is fire served only on Fridays - Sundays. Feeling frisky ask them to add the habanero salsa to your food. And then the Birrua de Chivo

Delicious taco truck. Get the carne asada, you won't regret it! It's some of the best I've ever had.

The best taco truck in Fresno hands down. All meats are flavorful, my favorites are asada, lengua, and buche. Burritos are huge and full of flavor they're stuffed with your choice of meat, rice, beans, cilantro, onion and your choice of red or green salsa.

I ordered Crane Asada beans and rice, best I've had in a long time. I was very happy. I'll be coming back.

I am happy to say that Tacos Rodriguez is still going strong with their Thursday-Sunday night schedule, although they have moved one block east from their old location on the corner of Tulare and First. I am updating my years-old review to reflect just how marvelous the carne asada is at this establishment. It is the best in the Valley and I've tried dozens of the best competitors. All taco truck aficionados know that they best way to judge the quality of a taco truck is not via the taco, but the burrito. This way you get to taste the beans and rice (the true measure of quality in any Mexican restaurant, taco truck or otherwise) and you get to see how they handle their flour tortillas--a far tougher challenge than the small corn tortillas on the tacos because so much more can go wrong. Are they fresh, chewy, and capable of cohering with the ingredients, or are they stale and prone to falling apart halfway through? Because all of the essential components of a taco truck are found in the burrito, go here first. Fortunately, both the tacos AND the burritos at Tacos Rodriguez are outstanding. Indeed, they are the finest in Fresno by my estimation, and the reason for this is simple: the ingredients--especially the carne asada. The meat is meticulously trimmed so that virtually no clumps of fat are left. The chef also cooks the meat very quickly, making it so that the meat is charred on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside. Savory but not too salty, and miraculously devoid of grease, the result is a carnivore's dream. This is world class carne asada, folks. I've had better salsa, better fixings, and a more convivial environment for dinner (it can get a tad sketchy here), but in terms of the basic building blocks of the taco (think warm, soft, and chewy steamed tortillas) and burrito, Tacos Rodriguez is my current title holder for Fresno County. Most highly recommended.
