I am Italian so I am very critical of Italian restaurants. I had the eggplant parmesan and it was just okay. As usual they do not peel the skin off the eggplant nor pre cook the eggplant just a bit so that it is tender and easy to cut with a fork instead of needing a knife. The sauce or gravy as we Italians call it was average. I have had their sausage once before and it needs to cook slowly in the sauce so anyone can cut it with a fork. They precook the meat then add it as ordered. This system ruins the sauce as the meat is a very integral part of the flavor of the sauce, unless one is cooking a simple marinara. In the over 500 Italian restaurants I have visited, maybe 2% hit the 5 star mark. But for those that like basic so-called Italian food establishments, Johnny Russo's is average but pricey.

I took 31 people to Johnny Russo's tonight and I want to thank them for the great service. Our server was Ariel and she did a fantastic job. We could not have asked for anyone better. And to top it off the food was very good. We will return again!
