Sorry to see this restaurant food quality and service drop off into the abyss following all the nutty drama going on in this country with Covid and lawlessness. Our last stay at Back Bay was less than average due to the terrible meals we received from Blue Heron. A sharp contrast to what we experienced a year earlier. Sad. I'll also add that the BLM political statement, now pasted front and center on their webpage, is a disappointing testament to their ignorance. BLM is fighting for racism not against it. I won't contribute to an organization/business supporting these evil views.

Absolutely love their short ribs and their location is stunning! They have the cutest outdoor area and are so generous with the local community belt allowing us to use it for free events

We just had an absolutely wonderful halibut, gnocchi, sugar snap peas, and chocolate panna cotta dinner. Everything was superb in flavor. Thank you, Blue Heron, for continuing your tradition of superb dining. You’re our go to favorite on the Central Coast. They are available during COVID for take out.

I luv black cod and it was delicious but I thought I was picking up a dinners for two as they advertised it for 48.00 plus tax. I drove a long ways to get only 1 dinner and in no way was that portioned for 2 unless you were a child. Very disappointing and deceptive. The desert was awful and I threw it out.Ice cream and Carmel desert. I don't think I would pay $54.00 for a piece of cod again since that is the only thing I really enjoyed. White rice and zucchini came with it which was so so.

Closes at 7pm on Friday night. We stood outside unacknowledged for 15 minutes before having the door locked on us with no explanation. After knocking (and a 20 minute Uber ride to get there) we were rudely informed that they were not honoring the hours posted on their website.

While this restaurant IS owned by Bill Lee, who is determined to turn Los Osos into another coastal tourist trap, I view him as Mr. Potter (from "it's a wonderful life") of Baywood, the food is always quite good. Beer and wine is always local and well selected. Nice decor too.

We ordered the Friday fish take out special, and everything was so good that I had to rush to Yelp and write this review. The fish of the day was fresh rockfish with a Halibut like texture and a sweet fresh taste. This was pared with a mix of veggies and andouille sausage and topped with fresh shrimp. The entire entree was magnificent and plenty of food for two. We also ordered a bottle of Cambria Chardonnay which was priced at a wine store price of $20.00. They also included three desserts; apple sorbet, chocolate ice cream and a magnificent blueberry or boysenberry cheesecake. I am usually not a dessert guy, but the cheesecake was so good it forced me to eat it.. For take out, this meal was outstanding. If I could rate 10 stars, I would do so, as the food was that good.

We had a terrific take away fixed price halibut dinner from the Blue Heron tonight! Get on their email list and you will get notice of their Covid-19 menu. With a little maneuvering you will be on their VIP list and be able to order these yummy meals. Be warned: They sell out quickly. Tonight's meal was halibut, wild rice, broccoli, cauliflower and fresh greens! Then it was topped off with a yummy peach cobbler. We don't need on the patio with a glass of wine. It was perfect! Good food, good price, great and friendly service...we will be back, for sure!

The Family meals currently being offered for take-out are comfort food at its best. Quality ingredients from local farmers, cooked perfectly, generous portions and homemade desserts. A rare treat during these times.
