This restaurant used to be better, right when they changed owners I noticed a difference not on flavors but service, they too slow they take forever to bring your food to table, new management...I still think food it's really good but they need to improve the service...

Just updating this review to say that this place is still amazing, even during the hard times with COVID. It's my go to Indian spot in Benicia. I love aroma!

Ordered through DoorDash and tried out their shrimp coconut curry, goat cheese naan, shrimp biryani, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala. The entire order was very filling and provided plenty of leftovers. The goat cheese naan definitely brought the goat to the table and was a little too much for me. However, if you're a fan of goat cheese I would highly recommend it. The garlic naan was perfect and went well with the coconut curry and tikka masala. I wish the chicken in the tikka masala was less dry but the flavor provided by the masala made up for it. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp biryani due to the tomato based flavor but appreciated the amount that was given. I'd come back to try more options here.

I've been here quite a few times in person for dinner or lunch, and each time has been fantastic. The food is always amazing, extremely flavorful, and extremely filling. My most recent take-out experience was no exception. I had ordered a couple appetizers and entrees for a small family event; the restaurant was out of a particularly delicious naan and although they called to substitute, I missed the call. When I got there, we worked out a substitute and within a few minutes I had my order ready to go! The amazing part of this experience was the customer service. I waited only about 5 minutes tops for the substitute naan, but was given a tasty snack (an appetizer I hadn't every tried before) and a cup of mango smoothie to enjoy while I waited. Really impressed with the restaurant's cleanliness, dedication to the food, and efficiency, even when I'm sure it's not easy right now.

Aroma is a local restaurant I've been to a couple of times in the past. However since COVID they provide a clean restaurant with plenty to choose from to take out. The portions are fair but in my opinion is a bit pricey. However I did appreciate the later hours for people like me that got off work late.

4.5 stars!Aroma Indian in downtown Benecia has a hidden secret--a beautiful patio in the back of the restaurant perfect for outdoor dining! On one wall of the patio was a mural of the Taj Majal, which was a beautiful backdrop for the Indian dining experience! To start, we ordered the Samosa Chaat, and when our server brought it out, I could hardly believe my eyes--it was an absolutely GIGANTIC portion of chopped samosas topped with chickpeas, potato chunks, chopped tomatoes, puffed rice, rice crackers, chana dal, sev (chickpea noodles), and tamarind chutney! The first few bites of this dish were a bit dry, and it felt like something was missing. So I asked our waiter for sides of their green herb chutney and raita (yogurt sauce), which we used to top the chaat, and that really hit the spot! A perfect balance of spice, tang, and crunch!Next came our entrees--we ordered the Baingan Bhartha, a curry made of roasted eggplant cooked with onions, tomatoes, and green peas. While the curry wasn't particularly strong in flavor, it was a great light, vegan option from the menu, and the peas added a nice bright sweetness! We also got the Parantha basket, which came with three types of whole wheat flatbreads: lachha parantha, potato parantha, and cauliflower parantha. My favorite was the potato parantha, which had a nice textural contrast between the soft layer of potato filling and the chewy layers of bread! Finally, we had the Tandoori Mixed Grill, which came with a whole assortment of tandoori meats on a sizzling metal plate: tandoori chicken (drumstick and thigh), chicken tikka (breast meat), tandoori shrimp, and lamb boti kabob, along with plenty of onions and peppers! The best part about this dish is that it actually came super spicy (as we requested), and they really did not hold back on the heat! What an Indian feast, and the value for the food (especially the portion sizes), the friendly service, and the great atmosphere was simply unbeatable!
