“I was in Santa Monica yesterday morning in line to eat at another restaurant. It was already lunch time. But I wanted breakfast food. I asked the people in line if that restaurant served French Toast for breakfast. A very nice young woman with a cute dog said "go to John O'Groats" if you want a traditional French Toast Breakfast. I followed her advice and drove out to John O'Groats. I am so glad that I did. This place is a tradition diner with a lot of charm. The French Toast was great. As was the coffee. The service was good. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I will definitely be returning to this location with friends. This is a great place to have lunch or dinner. Before I drove out there, I called. I got an outgoing voice message. I left a message in which I said that I had wished that someone had answered the phone. I just wanted to know if they are still serving breakfast. When I arrived, the proprietor said to me "You called didn't you?" I answered in the affirmative. He responded "We have breakfast all day every day!" I wish I had taken down the name and contact information of the woman who recommended John O'Groats. I would have enjoyed sharing my experience with her.“

“Discovered this gem on a trip to the Hollywood Bowl. Came in on Friday morning and the place was pretty busy but we were seated right away. Great selection on menu and lots of things sounded good like the scramble bowl and the chicken fried chicken breakfast. Loved our server who pointed out the Good Neighbor combo: 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage. Delicious and good value at $11 because pancakes where huge and sausage was fullsized links. Lots of leftovers. We would be regulars at this place if we lived closer!“

“We had our son’s wedding rehearsal dinner here last week and it was truly wonderful. The food was fantastic, brilliantly served, more than ample. The atmosphere was gorgeous, filled with flowers not billed to us. Marietta, the co-owner, was totally easy to work with, more than fullfilled our expectations. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant for a superb dinner, lunch, or special event.5 stars all around.“

“Food was OK and worth the money . Black owned, so you got the real unprocessed food here. I enjoyed the food the price was a little high for me but it was cool. My wife likes the breakfast stuff patties. The grits needed Jesus, but hey it was ok“

“Quaint, intimate setting for vegan offerings.Very much enjoyed the experience on a weekday night date with my ?.It began with the Dreamy Green & Strawberry Piña Colada smoothies. These were amazing; fresh wholesome ingredients that tasted phenomenal when combined like they did.It was followed by the freshly made Lavender Dusted Beer Bread & Creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip.Mains included, Crispy Chicken Sandwich & fries customized to Chili Cheese Fries. Fries were unforgettably good!Creamy Artichoke Spinach Pasta was so tasty & the consistency of the sauce was impressive for being vegan.Ended the night with the Affogato, that included their fresh vanilla ice cream & espresso.Being the Carnivore I am proud to be ? I was very satisfied with the textures, flavors & locally-sourced ingredients also impressed with the cleanliness, attentive service, peaceful surroundings.I am especially pleased with the late-night (11pm weekday) closing time!Keep up the great place! “I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Norms. I generally think of this chain as a depressing place retirees go for dinner at 4pm, and drunk youths go when the club lets out because it's the only place still open.I was wrong, and I'll gladly go back. The menu has been paired down and revamped in the 20 years since I went there as a 20-something partier myself. There were the standard breakfast and lunch diner options, and some very interesting, unusual options as well. I actually had a hard time choosing. I had the El Benedicto breakfast, and it was delicious! The egg was sunny side up and a little too runny in the whites for my liking, but it was fine. I asked for the hashbrowns well done, and they were, though they were still too white on the inside. I don't recall what the other members of the group got, but they all enjoyed their meals. The service staff was fantastic. I don't remember the first young man's name who took our drink order, thoigh he was very friendly and nice, but a man named Juan took over for him, and he was great. He was warm, friendly, helpful, and efficient.I deducted a star for the atmosphere because, while they have clearly updated the look of the place and did a good job, it was noisy and hectic. There were bus boys working their butts off, which is great for table turnover and getting people seated, but they zoomed their carts past us so much, the people sitting on the aisle were afraid they'd get hit. It was hard for them to relax. Also, some of the carts were filthy, which was very off-putting in a restaurant setting. It makes you wonder what the back of house looks like. There was also someone there who apparently thought it was fine to just dump whole containers of dishes out, making a very loud clattering sound every few minutes. It was jarring and made conversation more difficult. We were seated on the other side of a partition to the kitchen, so I'm sure that didn't help. It may have been better farther away, but it's not a big place so I don't know about that. Between that, the music blasting from the kitchen, and general restaurant noise, we had to work hard to be heard. If we go back, I'll ask to be seated away from the kitchen even if it means we have to wait longer. All in all, it's good and I would go back!“

“I really Love the lamb chops, dolmas and rice meatball soup. I didn’t take pictures, I was so busy eating my food. My kids loved the chicken kebab. Service is great. As a Latina I feel a little shy when I’m trying different food but they are very nice people and food is delicious.“

“We were very happy we stopped in for lunch. The chopped liver appetizer and the tongue and pastrami sandwich were fantastic. The matzo ball soup was somewhat disappointing (but I am somewhat spoiled with a lifetime of fantastic, homemade soup) that had a ridiculously humongous matzo ball. The "light lunch for one" combo was enough food for an entire day and anything but light!“

“Mucho Mas is a Mucho blast, this longstanding family owned restaurant is located on the outskirts of North Hollywood (like you literally cross the street and you're in Burbank)! Easy parking in their lot or own the street (all free ninety nine w/o restrictions, meters or vallet) Upon entering you may notice their large patio to the left of the door. You'll be greeted and seated promptly, give their menu + specials and left to your devices as they say, until it's time to order. Whether you're a large rambunctious party of 12 or a pair of two, you'll get the mucho experience. Our server was very attentive most of our meal. She was very kind and helpful. I went with the veggie fajitas burrito (dry rather than wet, sin queso)... My M.M. regular date went with sizzling shrimp fajitas, which came with sides of beans and rice, like my burrito... Plus we had complimentary chips & salsa and an order of chips and guac... Needless to say... It was a full table! The food was nice, portions big! Very much appreciated all the veggie options (mainly fajita based entrees or salads - vegetarian by default, vegan with simple no dairy mods). They have some fun drink options including margaritas, cerveza y una barra completa (a full bar). The layout is traces of abode meets modern Mexican cantina restaurant, with nods to latin cultura in their art, pictures (such a the late Chespirito) y many attentions to detail. M. Mas was very busy on a Friday Night, We saw some parties waiting for tables on our way out... Grateful we stopped in before 8PM when things super picked up! Open 11AM to 9PM, six days a week (cerrado el Martes).“

“Second time dining here and I had to share how wonderful and the kind the people here are, exceptional service! We just walked in, no reservation needed at around 4pm. David was our server today and he was so kind and attentive. The hostess as well as everyone else was very friendly! The food was great as well. Highly recommend the BLVD Burger ($38), comes with delicious fries as well. The cucumber cleansing juice ($13) was very lovely as well but a bit overpriced for the size. We sat inside with a window view, and it's beautiful to watch outwards Rodeo. Overall, highly recommend and will most definitely be back.“
