My first birria taco was from here and it was delicious. The taco was amazing although it was a little dry. The customer service here was just as good. They do curbside pickup which is convenient and I'll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family

I ordered delivery during Covid...ordered the barbacoa beef taco, sopa, quesadilla, ramen, street corn, chips n salsa, churro donuts...The packaging was beautiful n I really wanted to like this place but the barbacoa beef lacked flavor, while it was very tender, it needed copious amount of salt...The churro donut was good but a little greasy...Overall it was ok

Ordered through Yelp, good thing I called to make sure they didn't put any dairy in anything as I have allergies, and as confirmed on their end they did NOT see the note I put in, so something needs to be fixed on the technical side so people don't have to call and make sure about their necessities a note area should be enough work already. Location, I got lost and had to call. This place apparently works out of the copper kitchen located INSIDE the NEW brea improv (old, old navy store) however, you don't pick up in the front, go to the hallway backside near the parking lot that is shared with the yard house patio, there are some metal pergolas, and benches, and on a door behind there it has the business phone number, you call them and tell them you're there when you're ready to pick up. I think it's considered curbside which is nice. I didn't know though so I got down and waited. Staff wears mask, so that was nice! And they're super friendly even with all my questions and concerns. Finally food- The barbacoa is really good like amazingly good. Such a simple taco that packs a punch! And oh my god the salsa is literally FIRE, good luck to any other heat lovers out there, I'm shocked I couldn't even finish one small container. So delicious though only need a dab! The dip for the taco is super tastey too, I would love to see a beans and rice combo on their menu. Maybe even a vegan cheese option, or corn tortillas for us gluten free people! (Get with the times just saying!) The chicken taco was tasty but a little on the blan side the onion and pico degallo were what stood out more dominantly, I was fine with it though dipping it in the fire salsa. The vegan taco is amazing, holllly I would order nothing but that. I was surprised how much I enjoyed that, the beans and french fries are a key to my Latin heart I must say. So delicious, and comfortingly appetizing. A must try even for a meat lover. French fries also really good, they spice them and have onions on them not quite sure but it's good. I'd love to also see French fries with barbacoa on top, and perhaps nacho option or Tacquito option, I'd probably be a weekly client if that barbacoa was rolled and fried, call it my weekly cheat date :P I really didn't expect this place to work out of the actual improv copper blues kitchen. It's pretty good, and I feel like two people got full off around 40$ not bad at all! Definitely what you would consider junk food with a twist. Worth the try, and worth supporting if you love the improv as much as I do get some tacos !

Ok, yes Birria everything seems to be the cool food of choice these days. But who doesn't love stewed meat, wrapped in a tortilla, with a side of beef juice as a dipping sauce. It is a Mexican version of prime rib dip.. I have tried a few birria tacos but this place has them all beat. The consome is super yummy and the meat is very tender. BUT my favorite part of the meal was the churro donuts. WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION!

We were in town for the weekend and tried Resident Taco. There were five of us and we all ordered the boxes. I called the order in and had a special request, which they willingly met. There were generous portions of fries, the sauces were flavorful and the tacos were tasty. The only hiccup was picking up the food. Like many restaurant during the pandemic, we met in the parking lot and there was not a clear sign where to get the order. A quick call and we were directed where to go (hint: by the black valet canopies) and the food was quickly brought out to us. The staff was very friendly, helpful and again, the food was great. Another plus for us- it's close to our son's place so we will be back!

Tacos and quesadilla were good. Came with fries and chips as sides. The salsa has a little kick to it but it is really good.

Bomb. Saw this place on yelp in the area and decided to try it. Did not disappoint. I guess its in Copper Blues but they have curbside pickup so you dont have to go in. The tacos I thought were really good until I tried the quesadilla which was so amazing. I love that they serve everything with consome because it just makes it tastier. The hot sauce was really good but too spicy for me. If they had a milder option I would have definitely put it on everything. I wish they had quesatacos because they would be good. Their chips were good but nothing too special. Personally i would get the quesadilla a la carte next time. The elote was good, I liked the flavor of the toppings more than the corn itself (yellow corn) but it went well. Not a must have but if you're craving it it wont disappoint. Definitely will be back!

My family and I ordered to-go from here for dinner and it was pretty great. I got the barbacoa sope combo which came with 2 sopes and a box of fries. We also got the barbacoa tacos and chicken tacos. Sopes were really good and the hot sauce they provide is super spicy so beware. Fries are seasoned really well. I would want to come back to try the barbacoa ramen next time as well.

Waited more than 50 mins for a pick up after they said would be ready in 20 mins for two orders. When called after 30 mins server was frustrated and said they would take longer if people kept calling. It is not the customer fault for checking in if they are running 50 mins behind!

Ordered the barbacoa sopes with fries and cinnamon donuts for delivery and cannot complain. The hot sauce is super spicy and addicting. But be careful because it left mouth burning for a few minutes. The sopes are layered with black beans, barbacoa shredded meat, some sort of aioli, onion+cilantro, and a dash of Mexican cheese. It also comes with some sort of oily? Dipping sauce, but I didn't use it. I used the super spicy hot sauce and it was delicious. My friends ordered the barbacoa tacos, but it didn't look as fulfilling as the sopes. It was the barbacoa meat and a hard shell taco only. No other toppings, so it didn't look as appetizing. Their fries are seasoned and flavourful, so I didn't need any condiments with them. The cinnamon donuts were yummy as well. It comes with some sort of dipping sauce, but I didn't try it. It was already sweet enough for me. Will be ordering from them again!

What a hidden gem. Their veggie tacos are fantastic! Salsa is hot and full of flavor. Prices aren't outrageous either. Would recommend.

I was fresh off watching a Babbish cooking video for Birria when i realized I needed to get lunch. I typed in birria and up came a place I hadn't tried before only a mile away, RESident Taco. I placed a Yelp order for pickup and headed over there to get the food. You have to park somewhere and then walk to Brea Blvd because they are serving out of a Copper Blues giant window. I don't know the difference between a Barbacoa quesadilla and a Birria quesadilla, but they are pretty much the same to me. I'll Google it later. For RESident tacos, they took a large flour tortilla, bathed it in the juice that the meat was cooked in, and then stuffed it with a ton of shredded beef and white fresh cheese, nada mas. It was folded and griddled and cut into thirds. It was carefully wrapped and placed in a cute box with lime wedges, a bright pink salsa, and a bowl of consomme with onions and cilantro floating on top. The quesadilla must've weighed a pound. I like that the shredded beef was moist and had no surprises that you might find elsewhere like fat, gristle or (gasp) bone. You can eat the whole thing without looking. I'm glad I didn't order more items because this was plenty. The tortilla was obviously dipped and it was yellow with flavor (fat) but not drippy if you know what I mean. The meat did not leak out but stayed tucked in enough that you could eat this with your white dress shirt on. The consomme was an intense version of the subtle flavors present in the meat. I detected warm spices like clove, cumin and cinnamon. The fresh onions on top of the bowl gave a nice crunch and if you dip low enough you can get the broth into your quesadilla and not just the thin layer of flavor (fat) on top. The vibrant salsa is confusing because it is so pretty but also very spicy! The color means it is super fresh because that fresh tomato color would get dark if they made it too far in advance. It has the kind of heat that gets you right away in the front of the mouth and on the lips and doesn't build up over time. I'm so happy RESident taco (RES is beef) is in Brea! It's not much more expensive than a taco truck but the quality is way high (at least for this first visit). I love the simple menu, easy ordering and pickup. I will be back to try the rest soon.
