One of the most delightful meals in recent memory, thanks to the warm and attentive staff at Tuna Kahuna. We came in for Chef’s Table Night and enjoyed yummy dishes you’d expect to see at $$$$ restaurants at reasonable prices. We even brought our baby (we’re new parents) and they were very accommodating. This restaurant serves quality food, no frills. Can’t wait to go back!

Overpriced and bland rice bowls. my friend ordered brown rice and it smelled bad. It was delicious except for the bad brown rice that made me upset

I got the Yuzu Hamachi bowl. The Yuzu oil was way too strong and overpowered any other possible flavor, including the hamachi. I arrived starving, but I couldn’t finish the bowl due to how bad it was. For $25, that was the worst tasting Poke Bowls I have ever had. Also as soon as I walked in, the trash cans immediately by the door made the entire restaurant smell like a cat’s dirty litter box.

“Hearty Delights at Tuna Kahuna - A Seafood Food Lover’s Haven”Situated at 1117 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame, CA 94010, Tuna Kahuna is a haven for those with hearty appetites. My friend and I stumbled upon this gem due to its proximity to his workplace, and it turned out to be a delightful find. The ambiance at Tuna Kahuna is top-notch, creating a pleasant environment for a satisfying meal. The staff members are not only friendly but also incredibly helpful. As a food lover, I sought a surprise recommendation, asking the staff to create something substantial – and they delivered. The overall experience was wonderful, leaving me eager to return. The only hiccup might be parking, which can be a bit challenging. However, overcoming this hurdle is well worth it for the culinary experience that awaits. While the prices lean slightly above average, the quality of the food justifies it. Tuna Kahuna is a spot where friendly staff and delectable dishes converge, making it a definite repeat destination.

Definitely a go to place for me. It reminds me of home cooked food that I ate back at home. The service service is consistently good and fast. We literally ordered and the food came out a minute after we sat down. Don't forget to get your ice cream at Salt and Straw after.

Couldn't decide between the hamachi and salmon so we shared a half half between 2 people. The portion was really generous and worked out perfectly for us because we weren't super hungry. The both salmon and hamachi are very fresh and they perfected the amount of yuzu sauce to put on so that it doesn't overwhelm the overall balance of the bowl. The takuan/pickled vegetable was okay, katsuobushi and crispy garlic are a nice touch, not sure if the seaweed was necessary. We concluded based on the textures of the fish and viscosity of the sauce, Hamachi is definitely better than salmon especially for Yuzu. We thought the flavor seeped into the texture of the hamachi so much better, can't really taste much on salmon. Our server was very friendly, and they had an interesting show playing in the background called "tanked," which is about building out dream tanks for individuals for personal or business or commercial purpose. Honestly seemed a bit savage to be watching that while eating poke but we found it educational, as it's quite a complicated process to keep fish healthy, which suggests it's not easy for what we're eating to get to our plate. Can't wait to come back for a hamachi bowl!

Super clean decor and friendly staff. Their bowls are reasonably priced. The gyudon portion to price ratio was spot on and I would certainly get it again.

Tuna Kahuna is my favorite poke place in the peninsula. The staff and owner are very friendly and the food is fresh. The indoor seating is limited and there is a narrow walkway but I normally eat outside anyways.I usually create my own bowl and customize it to my liking, which has worked out so far! Every time I leave satisfied and not feeling gross. They do give a generous amount of food but the ingredients themselves aren't greasy or oily.I will definitely keep coming back to discover new combos!

Had lunch in the outdoor space today. Ordering was easy thru a QR code and food came within 5min. Though it was a tad chilly now that we are in the midst of Fall, the staff brought out a heat lamp to help with the cold wind. Bowl was a good size (and if u r not too hungry, there is a kids bowl), fish was fresh and the topping (5 for regular) was nice. Personal favorites are edamame, corn, pickled radish. Each bowl is $18-20, so 22-34 with tip and tax.

I just ate at kahuna tuna for dinner. One of the owners was there. He was extremely nice and friendly. The tuna poke and salmon and crab and shrimp. We’re all about as fresh as you can get. The salads were well seasoned and dress delicately. The vegetables were all crispy and fresh. As a San Francisco native I have very high standards when it comes to fresh seafood. Kahuna tuna did not disappoint in anyway.

Summary:Fresh, tasty poke with multiple DIY optionsDetails:The SO and I tend to eat at the same spots in Burlingame whenever we visit, and decided to switch it up a few weekends ago, finally swinging by to a spot I'd bookmarked quite some time ago. As a disclaimer, I'll say that both of us have a nuanced relationship with seafood: she doesn't love it in general, and I'm pretty particular about raw seafood in that I prefer it seasoned and with rice, as the texture of sashimi on its own kind of freaks me out.So, poke, in theory, meets my conditions for a form of raw fish I'm willing to eat, as long as the pieces of fish have been cut sufficiently small (again, for texture reasons). And hey, Tuna Kahuna, with it's huge variety of ingredients inside a poke bowl, and smaller (but generous) chunks of fish, did indeed fit the bill! Both the spicy chili garlic and yuzu hamachi bowls we got were enjoyable, at least for the first half: we found both to be a bit too sweet as we kept eating it (I think mostly from the sushi rice), but pretty fresh, and refreshing, despite that. I can certainly see myself stopping by again in the future, but would probably split my bowl across two meals instead of just one.Accessibility:With both a bit of indoor and outdoor seating, there are definitely some accessible options here.

Made reservations for the Chef's Table menu that's only available on Friday and Saturday to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had such a great experience and really enjoyed the food and drinks. We were early for our reservation but our table was ready for us and we were seated immediately. My friend saw the extensive drink menu and was very excited about the sake so Clarence immediately came over and brought us two to try. We liked his suggestion and ordered a bottle (or two...). On to the food. - Kahuna Surfboard was our main point of interest and it did not disappoint. 5/5 for freshness, taste, and interactiveness. Negi-toro, uni butter, ikura, black tobiko, chives, and toasted bread - put them all in one bite or try different combinations! One small note was that I realized after our dining that they used to serve this dish with real uni instead of uni butter. I was quite sad about that but everything was tasty. - toro crudo 5/5 - 3 prices each of lean, medium, and fatty tuna in a house soy sauce-based sauce. Simple but fresh and tasty. - Hokkaido don 4.5/5 - I wished there were more scallops and uni and portion was small for the price but again, ingredients were very fresh and tasty. DrinksTwo sakes- Shichida Yamahai Umakuchi Junmai- Gasanryu Gokugetsu Junmai Daiginjo I'm not much of a sake drinker but I like the crispness of these and the smooth aftertaste that lingered in my mouth. - Ozeki Hana Awaka Sparkling Yuzu - super yummy! I'm gonna look for this in the supermarkets!Service - 10/5Everyone was very friendly and Clarence was amazing. We got to chat a lot with him about sake and food in general and will plan to stop by again soon. I can't wait to try the poke bowls and Chef's box!
