First time at this location and can definitely say it's just as good as the original location in downtown Campbell. I ordered the j*** salmon and oxtail combo which was solid. The j*** salmon is probably my favorite dish they have here. Will definitely come back to this location again, great service and very clean and new interior.

Oh my gosh the j*** sauce I get the chicken/pork combo plate and everything is delicious. The beans and rice are so good and the plantains are the perfect touch of sweetness. But, GET. EXTRA. J**** SAUCE!!! It's spicy but so dang good. Hubs gets the chicken and ribs bbq plate and also good. Expect for these plates to provide 2-3 meals, usually only two for me because I don't want to stop eating. So good. The Mac n cheese and cornbread are also winners!

*Third time eating here* I got Back A Yard for lunch today and it reminded me to write a review!! This place is so good! Everything is flavorful and cooked right. What I've tried here: Bbq chicken: personally this is my fav, maybe more so than the j**** The bbq sauce is slightly sweet and the chicken is always tender and juicy even if you order white meat which tends to run dry usually J*** pork & chicken: very good! I like the pork a bit more than the chicken, but both are delicious! The pork falls apart in your mouth. The j*** seasoning is flavorful and not spicy in case you're worried it might be. Mac n cheese: my favorite! Never thought I'd rate mac n cheese at a restaurant but here we are lol! Very good and cheesy but not overly so that it's greasy and not consumable. Check out my photo! I cannot comment on the store/ atmosphere or service as I've only ordered my food via DoorDash for those long work days.. I usually order for lunch and there's so much food it lasts me well into dinner and sometimes lunch the next day! Do not snooze on this place! If you're unsure if you'll like the j*** chicken or pork, you can order a little side of the sauce for 25 cents and try it. I did that my first order before ordering a full plate.

I am a connoisseur of good Jamaican food and I have had two entrees from this restaurant on two different occasions. My first entree was the ackee and codfish plate. The ackee and codfish was too salty to eat. The codfish had not been properly soaked and rinsed well. The plantains were overcooked and dry. I tried the restaurant again today, j*** salmon plate. The salmon was grilled, without being seasoned and served with a bit of j*** sauce on the side for dipping. My plantains were so overcooked dry and tasteless. I didn't eat them. I asked to speak with a manager, the young lady was pleasant, however had no clue how Jamaican food is prepared. I asked for a number to contact the owner and was told I would have to voice my opinions online. So here I am.

Found a piece of plastic inside our order mid eating it, and the coleslaw was rancid and had to spit it out. We usually eat at the Capitol Expressway location and it was our first time at the Campbell one; we're definitely sticking to the Capitol one now. The food itself tasted good but food safety and hygiene is questionable.

I got the j*** chicken and pork combo. I would recommend choosing a j*** chicken plate / pork yard plate instead. The portion of the combo is not much more than a normal plate, it just gives more variety. Many of my pork pieces I got were pieces of fat. Overall, the meat is well seasoned and comes with a small container of sauce. The parking lot in front is quite small and limited.

I wouldn't have ordered if I knew they were out of plantains with my plate, but the cashier didn't tell me, and it was when I got my order when I realized there were no plantains. I went to the cashier and she ignored me for a minute and was like "yep. We're ALL out of plantains." I guess u gotta make sure that they have them before you order cuz they're not gunna tell you.

I can't believe I didn't know this place existed!!. My friend from another state told me about this place and I'm addicted. Coworkers and I settled on various dishes and we all live with the flavors and amount of food. Plantans were amazing as well. I basically licked the bowl clean. I will probably end up trying other times such as the j*** chicken and desserts there as well. Kudos to the chef . Perfect balance of flavors

The J*** Salmon plate ($13.95) was phenomenal. It comes with 2 heaping scoops of rice with beans and fried plantains, which are nicely caramelized and crispy and melt in your mouth. My son loved the J*** Tofu plate (10.95) as well. Vegans, FYI, their J*** Tofu and Coconut Curried Tofu with Vegetables plates are vegan. It's also very reasonably priced, which is a rarity in this pandemic! We'll definitely be back soon.

Stick to the "Yard Plates" with their rice & beans/plantains and you should have a good time. I'd avoid their BBQ plate as it wasn't anything particularly special. Some issues with cleanliness in the front of the house that should get addressed though. Parking is a somewhat limited lot in front, which may be more of an issue at prime time, but we didn't have trouble ourselves as the shop next door was closed for Easter. Plenty of seating for indoors, nothing outdoors. Expect to order up front and grabbing food at the counter when called. Expect minimal service otherwise though. I ordered to split a BBQ and Yard Combo platter with my brother and it was a very mixed bag. The BBQ pork was inconsistent with some pieces being tender but other pieces being rather tough. The sauce was rather bland and the fries/coleslaw were similarly nothing special (the fries were also soggy, it didn't help they were boxed up for a dine-in). But the yard combo? Excellent stuff; night and day difference in food quality. The J*** chicken was moist and delicious with a very nice sauce on the side (very sour and hot). The oxtail was also pretty solid with its full fatty and delectable glory, and the sauce it was served with was bursting with flavor. Heck, even the rice and beans was fabulous with a fragrance of coconut to boot, and that's normally a filler. Plantains were crispy and tender, which is about as good as you can ask for. Rather strange to feel like you're eating at two different restaurants between the dishes... Normally I'd give the establishment benefit of the doubt when there's much potential on their menu, but the premises could also do better on cleanliness. There were numerous flies about (at least in the dining area), and it didn't appear that any of the tables were being wiped down or cleaned up. So overall, it's unfortunately middle of the road for me.

I'm so disappointed by what has happened to Back A Yard; the downtown location (now shuttered) was a lively, joy-filled place, and the food (while amazing) was just a part of the entire experience. This Campbell location is technically a restaurant, but it operates more as a ghost kitchen for delivery drivers, and the few on-site diners miserably wait (we waited 45 minutes for our meal) while dozens of pick-up orders are processed. The food was still fantastic, but what's the point of going out to eat when you feel like an afterthought?

So yummy! Been going here for 8 years since my trip to Jamaica. J*** chicken and oxtail are my favorites! Plantains are perfect! Habanero sauce is so good.
