Surprised actually I've never reviewed PhilHouse given I've ordered food from here many times but I suppose I kept lumping it together with Island Pacific since it is located inside the supermarket. PhilHouse is located to the right as soon as you walk in and you can see the available food through the glass. It's called Turo Turo style ordering where you point to what you want and the employee will ask what size and then pack it up for you and you pay with the cashier at the end. It's basically Panda Express for a comp. My favorites are the ukoy, eggplant torta, lumpia Shanghai, kare kare and pork sisig. It can get a bit pricey if you order a lot and especially get large sizes but the quantity is def worth it. Great for any fan of Filipino food.

Too expensive for recycled food. LA county should check their price. No price control at all.

The food is great and tasty. I see other reviews that show it is over priced but I do not see an issues with the giving what is served .

It's hit or miss. If they have the dishes you want it's a 5, but 1 if they don't. Here's the kicker. You have absolutely no idea what will be on the menu. It's Thunderdome over there! There are no rules! It's impossible to order off Doordash because it's 50/50 that the dish will not be available that day. Is there a designated day? No idea. Sometimes they make it that day, but for 5 servings. Then they don't make another batch. What kind of food vendor makes 1 batch? What are you guys doing for the rest of the day? Can you post the menu of the day or something?!?

Enjoyable food but they charge over pricing.

I got these chiles from this store on a Monday and when I got home and opened it, it was all nasty and moldy. I live out in Ventura county and couldn't return the item on Tuesday (24 hrs) but I did on Wednesday. You would think they would return your money for an item that was already bad but no. The cashier just told me he couldn't do anything about it since I missed the 24 hr deadline for perishable items stated on the receipt. I totally get it but this was already a bad product. I ended up leaving the product with the cashier.

Deserves a ZERO. This place has gone downhill big time. Bought 4 BBQ Chicken Skewers. After asking 3 times "what kind" and "how many", the lady behind the counter still got it wrong. I ended up with pork skewers. Absolutely disgusting: little piece of meat intertwined behind hidden pieces of lard. 80% of the skewer was not food, just fat (see picture). At about $4 w/ tax each for this, that's a scam! Never going back again.

Great food, super friendly employees, consistently great vibes. They charge reasonable pricing and the food quality is excellent. Keep up the good work.

I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STAR IF I COULD. Honestly had THE WORST EXPERIENCE at this place! I called on 12/23 to ask if I could still order for 12/24. The lady (who I will not mention her name here) told me that they are still taking orders so I ordered a crispy pata and 2 lbs of pork sisig. She even took down my name and phone number and said my order will be ready by 3pm. 12/24 - I came to pick-up my order. I was told to stand in line outside to prevent overcrowding, which was fine. But there was literally no line or sign where to stand. Finally, an Island Pacific staff came outside and told this other guy and I where to start the line. I waited about 20 mins and when it was my turn, the lady literally could not find my order. She straight up told me, "mam, we don't have your order". Ok, now what? They didn't even offer to fix it. So I told her who I spoke with and the lady who took my order on the phone was there. Turns out, they never made my order. They didn't even call to let me know that they can't make it. It is christmas eve, many restaurants are busy and are not taking in orders anymore. Their reason was because I ordered the day before and apparently the lady that took my order on the phone was new. This is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE REASON. Holiday or not, they should have had the courtesy to call their customer early to let them know if they are not able to make the food. Customers call ahead of time and when the order is confirmed, we obviously expect it to be done. I will never order here again. It was seriously a very bad experience.

$7 for a crappy cup of fruit salad? This cup is more expensive than a large boba. This place has gotten worse and taking advantage of people during this pandemic by jerking up their prices high. My brother was right, I'm better off buying food at house of grill or in Barrio fiesta in Granada Hills. All of my family members no longer buys to-go food in this overpriced sh** place. But if you like to get ripped in your wallets. Pls go ahead and enjoy while their burn your wallet.

Food is good with some "not the usual" filipino dishes worth 4-stars. Main downfall, which loses 2-stars, is the pricing is expensive. They charge restaurant prices for a precooked placed.

I guess it depends on the change of chefs ... most of the time their dishes are good and not salty. At times, when I go back to pick up food, some turn out to be salty which I don't like because that's not not good to your health. The servers are generous and nice to the customers which make me keep on coming back except when dishes are salty.
