After a day at the Carlsbad Flower Fields, my friends and I wanted seafood. We checked into Bluewater Grill around 6 PM on a Saturday and the wait was almost 2 hours. We made a reservation for Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar around the same and they also had an hour wait. Bluewater Grill seated us first, around 7:50 PM for a small group. Both locations require in-person reservations, so come early. The staff was decent and explained the menu. After ordering, he notified us that the Lobster Tail ($62) was sold out for the night. Our table shared the Crispy Calamari ($18.50) which paired nicely with the sweet chili sauce 4/5. Cajun remoulade sauce was okay. I ordered the Pan Seared Sea Scallops, MA for ($40) which came with goat cheese grits. The grits were creamy and the pan-seared scallops were fresh - 4.5/5.Restaurant has a private parking lot. Additional parking lot can be found around the corner for free.

Great service! I had the scallops with polenta and it was so good! The scallops were sweet, the polenta was creamy, and the sourdough bread that was served before the meal was hot, fresh and crunchy. I plan on coming back the next time I'm in Carlsbad.

Gina the manager made me feel welcomed. Excellent service. Great food. Good prices. Highly recommend a glass of the French white wine, sour dough bread and a shrimp cocktail for an easy dinner after long day of travel.

If you enjoy seafood, this is a fabulous place to dine. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The server was knowledgeable about the dishes, helping to find the right dish. The blackened swordfish, served with dirty rice, was perfectly prepared, flakey, and delicious. We'll be back!

Stopped here while staying in Carlsbad. They were able to seat us in the bar area without reservations, but it seemed like reservations would be preferred on the weekends. Lots of fresh fish options. We enjoyed the crab dip & mahi. My husband's spicy marg was a highlight too!
The chipotle blackened swordfish over chipotle rice was a perfect pairing for taste combinations. The calamari was light and tasty. Very nice dinner.

Great Surf & Turf meal. The service was excellent and all of the food came out HOT, even the bread was streaming when it arrived at our table. This place checked off all of the boxes of what a nice restaurant is supposed to be.

Was so good we went 2 days in a row. First night had cedar plank salmon and 2nd night the miso glazed black cod. Both really good. Mud pie for dessert is the move also the crab dip as an app was really good.

Excellent fried calamari! I also loved my shrimp taco and Manhattan clam chowder, soup was very tasty and hot. The taco had a nice kick to it with the green sauce. They also provide yummy sourdough bread.
