We were in town for a soccer tournament and Karl Strauss hosted our group easily. We had a very long table on the outside side patio. They also have QR code ordering so everyone can order separately to avoid dealing with a massive split check problem. We ordered the pork chops with potatoes, zucchini, pub burger with fries, a kids meal, and ahi poke nachos. The food was all solid. I don't particularly like the way they make sauces but they accommodated putting everything on the side so I could sauce or not sauce at my leisure.

Food was excellent! I wasn't expecting much from a brewery but I was extremely impressed. We had a table of 8 people so there was a variety of different options which makes this review worth writing. We had the ribeye, burgers, buffalo chicken wings, duck fat pretzel bites, pub pretzels, fried Brussel sprouts, sweet potato fries, grilled balsamic zucchini and pub Mac and cheese. Everything was excellent! The atmosphere is not you typical industrial type brewery. It is very warm, family friendly and more restaurant/ sports bar feel. Christian our waiter was very friendly, energetic, and attentive! 5 star service from Christian! The only negative thing I would say is the hostess was kind of rude by continuously telling us to hold on while she would go back and forth to tables seating people 6 times while we were standing there just trying to put our name in. We’re staying at the resort across the parking lot from Karl’s and a resort said they had really good food. They also told us we had to try the mac & cheese, which we did. I can see why their mac & cheese is award-winning As an appetizer we had the duck fat pretzel bites, which were amazing and even better with the beer, cheese sauce. We had a very friendly greeting in our server was fantastic. His name was Marco. I had the. The ribeye my wife had the avocado turkey burger both were delicious. Of course, while they had to try out their beer, which is fantastic too. I would come back again to try a couple other things on the menu.

Definitely a great place to go for lunch! We're staying at the Hilton across the parking lot. We walked over, mid-pool day, for some lunch. We sat in the sun on the patio--lovely! The patio also has a large, square bar surrounding a tabletop fire pit. I'm not a big beer drinker, but the hubs really liked his beer. I got a mojito in a can, which was okay as far as canned cocktails are concerned, but only $6, which can't be beat. I am a sucker for a beer pretzel, but it's got to be worth it. This one was! Just the right amount of salt, slightly crispy on the outside, chewy and not too dry on the inside. The beer cheese dipping sauce was pretty good with a bit of spice. The hubs got the ahi Korean bowl which he said was so good! It's a nice, healthy choice on the menu and the ahi appeared to be sashimi grade. We were served by a server, so we didn't experience the complaints a lot of others gave in their reviews.

My brother was in town and Carlsbad was a good middle point to meet up for dinner and beer. To start, the service was amazing. We sat at the high tops at the bar area. While we had 4-5 different servers come to the table they were all very attentive. We had asked for separate checks with our first server and was told they could take care of that when we close out our bill. It took several attempts to try to close out our bill as the server was having problems separating the bill. Our table ordered the salmon bowl, fish and chips and a couple of appetizers and beer. Salmon bowl looked good and my brother enjoyed it. Fish and chips were average. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was probably the best dish we ordered. The boneless chicken wings were soggy and not crispy at all which was a big disappointment ! Not the best boneless wings we've ever had. I would rate the wings a 2 out of 5. We've been to other breweries around the area and the food is a much better quality than here. Karl Strauss has a nice atmosphere but needs to step it up on their food.

Relaxing pub atmosphere with better than expected pub fare. We had Pub Burger, Fish n Chips, Cotija Turkey Burger and sweet potato fries, and organic side salad. Both burgers a bit over cooked, but still tasty. Nice variety of greens and fresh adds to the salad. Service was excellent and we felt well taken care of without service being intrusive. Honestly food wasn’t the greatest considering the cost, but still we enjoyed our evening. Easy to make reservations (and change if necessary) through the website. Good KS beer choices. New non-alcoholic Red Trolly was a bit void of good malty flavors but still drinkable as an alternative choice. Two nice areas for outdoor dining (dog friendly!), and inside is spacious and open with large comfy booths.PS- another reviewer mentioned a surcharge had been added to their bill. There was NO surcharged added to our bill last night (2/24/2024).
