Great food and service but they need to do something about the hostess stand location. It is very awkward and there is nowhere to stand when waiting for a table. I moved forward and four groups cut in front of me since the hostess did not ask who was next in line, she just looked at someone else and took their information.

WoW! Nick's on State Street delivered in a BIG way. Our server Brittany was amazing, and when we asked for recommendations, she was spot on. The Bacon Deviled Eggs surpassed our expectations. Our entrees were delicious but the Carrot Cake.... don't pass on it. It's ridiculously huge and easily could be split among 2-4 people depending on hunger levels.

Beautiful setting, great service. Food was amazing. Great version of deviled eggs, corn chowder was excellent. Nice update on the meatloaf, and the Sea Bass and Spinach was just right.

I have been here a few times and I have always had good times here! I ordered San Francisco Cioppino tonight! It has completely changed. It's just a seafood soup with water no taste. The shrimp is very hard and overcooked !When I tried it before, it was not like this. The waiter and manager explained that this dish hasn't changed. The plate was changed , but I know it's not. Because I ordered the same dish a month ago, It's really perfect. The chef is a young man who came to us and asked if the food was satisfactory! The food today really looked and tasted not good! However, the manager told me that this dish has always been like this !!! If it hasn't changed, I have no reason to say that. I understand that my bill has been reduced by 50%, but that's not what I wanted. I came here to eat, but I ended up going to another restaurant hungry ! I have tried many Michelin restaurants, and the most important thing for a restaurant is that its dishes should be consistent, You should not change the dish just because you have changed the chef or for any reason, because you cannot lower the cost of your ingredients after making customers like a dish, You can raise the price. I don't mind paying extra for the good food, but you shouldn't lower the quality ! because I will never come back to pay for a food I don't like! There is no leading prawn in today's dish either

Service was great, so were the Mai Tai and Old Fashioned. The watermelon Margarita and deviled eggs were okay. The meatloaf and fried chicken were super good, the short rib itself was delicious, the sauce was okay. The standout was the butter cake, it's fantastic! The restaurant is a bit loud but beautiful, overall excellent elevated comfort food. We will be back!

If you aspire to noise. A place that even though you have reservations leaves you standing . That even when you mention you have allergies that they can’t even substitute some sliced tomatoes for their bistro salad regarding that platter , but will gladly take it off the platter and charge you for itNick’s is the place for youOverpriced so called comfort food. plated very well and a staff that though attentive is going through the motions to appear sincereWhen told that we were there two birthdays being celebrated , that they would be delighted to give the birthday guests a signed card by the staff , in lieu of even a small treat that most restaurants are offering to their guests when celebrating .To say we were underwhelmed would be fair and though this place has excellent reviews be prepared to not be wowed by their business modelBecause others do it better and really want the repeat business by putting their patrons first

We've been to Nick's several times and although we've had reservations, we've had to wait, wait and wait. Maybe this is a testament to their popularity, which is good for them, but not their customers. And I was celebrating my birthday with a friend who is a day older, but a birthday card from the staff did not make me feel celebrated.

Brittany, our server, was excellent. She had good recommendations and a wonderful personality. We loved the asparagus fries and wedge salad. Our main course- short ribs and Chilean Sea Bass were both delicious. Last but not least, the butter cake dessert was to die for! It was the perfect, post Valentine's Day, night out.

Always amazing! Nick's restaurants are so consistent. Great service, good and ambiance. I'm so happy we have one in Carlsbad now. It's my favorite place! I'm a regular and love it!

The food, Bistro plate, pan seared salmon and fish sandwich were all perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive and made our lunch quite special.

I always love going to Nicks for special occasions. My girlfriend loved it too and had never been. I tried the buttermilk chicken for the first time and it was cozy on a cold day. The Butter cake dessert is incredible.
