I should have looked at their rating before I went here. Their website lists vegetarian bbq which sounded great. Got there and they've blacked that out with tape on their real menu. When I asked the employee she was rude and unpleasant telling me they no longer serve that. She almost seemed happy about it. Don't bother. There are better options in the food court.

I should have read the reviews first. It was over-priced and not good. The meat was dry, the cornbread was microwaved, and the ribs were boiled.

Yep...pretty bad. Inedible side of brown coleslaw and a bit of dry pork on a plain bun they are callin' a sandwich

First, horrible customer service. The cashier was so rude. I ordered the brisket, cornbread and Mac and cheese. Everything was so dry and not good. I don't recommend!!! The plus is there's other places you can try.

Sorriest excuse for $13 mac and cheese I have ever seen. Literally half a cup of elbow macaroni, a bit of cheese, and 4 floppy pickle slices. Disgusting and overpriced. Never again.

Didn't have a full experience here, but I tried the slider trio and it was alright. I figured it would come with coleslaw and sauce but it was all very deconstructed and a little dry.

We came to the windmill to check out a different restaurant that apparently is no longer in business. After wandering throughout the different options, we chose barbecue, because.. who doesn't love barbeque? The food hall itself is noisy with kids running all around, I would compare this to a mall food court, if you could purchase alcohol at the mall. There was plenty of open seating, and different options for all types of food cravings.Ordering was easy, only 1 person in line in front of us. I ordered a Brisket burger and burnt ends (because if burnt ends are on the menu, I'm all in). My wife went with the slider trio and upgraded to brisket sliders for an extra $1 each, she also got a sweet potato. It took longer than expected for our food to be ready, around 25 minutes before our pager started to vibrate and I went to grab our order.(When you pay for the meal, you include tip, I tipped 20% however after having to get my own order, bus my own trays and get my own utensils and napkins, I feel that is a bit high)The Trio came out incorrectly as they did not give the brisket and instead served a chicken slider, they did correct this. The brisket burger was, not what I expected which was a burger, with brisket on top, it was a burger made out of brisket cooked well done. This is on me as I did not ask. This was not any better than any fast-food burger you can get. Burnt ends which are always my favorite, not so much here. They were not meat candy like I expect, but more like lumps of coal you might get in your stocking if you were bad at Christmas. All kidding aside, they were not tender whatsoever and could not even be saved by bbq sauce...The Sweet Potato was a glop of butter, brown sugar mess.My experience was one in which I can't say I would go back.

NOTORIOUS BARBECUE, like the flagship older brother, Notorious Burgers, struggles mightily with details and consistency. once in a while they get it right, but most of the time their food could kindly be described as near misses.making good BBQ is fairly easy. because low-and-slow cooking uses (relatively) inexpensive meat (tougher cuts historically referred to as low-on-the-hog), it's technique driven. watch a few you.tube videos and some basic equipment and you're pretty much there. dishing up good BBQ is hard because of the timelines involved: you need to know right now how much pulled pork you're going to need six to eight hours from right now and that's tricky. but the real problem is more basic. being busy so hold times are short and product turns over (it's why I don't mind waiting at Popeye's for "new" chicken) is critical. Notorious Barbecue is not busy which creates a downward cycle: because they're not busy, product's not turning over fast enough so it's not very good and since it's not very good, they're not busy.

Horrible burnt ends! I order these at every bbq joint that offers them, and these were BY FAR the worst I’ve ever been served. I can’t say “the worst I’ve ever eaten”, because I couldn’t eat the food! Hard as a rock meat. Never again, and wish I’d have checked the reviews before picking a place to eat in the food hall.

BBQ joint in the Windmill Food Hall in Carlsbad. Food Halls are great for large groups, with different tastes and wants. Thus a good BBQ place can really be a staple/foundation for a food hall, especially one that has such a nice bar with craft beers, the way Windmill has.One places and pays for the order first, and are given a pager to pick it up when ready. It wasn't that busy on a Friday afternoon, and there was no line. Notorious serves the meats by the pound (which is always a good sign), and the prices were VERY reasonable. My wife decided to get the chopped brisket sandwich with a side of mac n cheese. It took a bit of time to get paged and pick up the sandwich (I had already gotten my Pho about 7 minutes before that)...so figured they were making it 'fresh'.My guess is that they just reheated the brisket from a previous night (which does make a lot of sense pertaining to the situation). It was a generous amount, but the brisket was very dry (don't ever want to put 'dry' and 'brisket' in the same sentence)...we noticed it right away when we saw it, and confirmed as she started to eat. The little cup of BBQ sauce on the side helped (the sauce was really good, tomatoey with tang), and the potato bun was perfect for the sandwich. It came with fresh white onion and pickles, and the mac n cheese was excellent, very fresh with the noodles being cooked perfectly. And the counter person was very friendly and engaging. But the star needs to be the brisket in this case, and it just didn't meet the mark.

Run. Worst BBQ I've ever had. The baby back ribs smelt so foul that I wanted to throw up. It was like rotten meat.
