Food was great and the female wait staff were so nice but the male kitchen staff made my friend and I quite uncomfortable with so much staring at one point it seemed all of them were out in the front and were staring so much. No hate to the restaurant but i’d like to comment on it because this sort of stuff can be very uncomfortable for women I’m just trying to enjoy a meal and don’t want men staring for no reason.

The food is amazing and delicious!!! The staff were very friendly. We ordered a few things: edamame, chicken gyoza, 2 rolls (lemon and killer salmon), a taisho combo (1 piece of nigiri: tuna, salmon, shrimp, albacore, yellowtail with 1 complete roll), and bottle of kikusui sake. The presentation of the food was nicely done and colorful. We sat outside the balcony and enjoyed the music from the restaurant below. We recommend this place!

Discovered this place a year ago and finally decided to leave a review. I love this place, been to plenty of sushi restaurants across the country and I think this is the best one I've been to. I come here often. High quality sushi, great service, lovely location. I always get the bento box with sushi and sashimi. So simple, so good! It's my way of treating myself!

We just came here for a quick snack. So we shared a poke nacho. Lots of nachos not enough tuna. But great combo flavor and great service. Cool atmosphere right about coyote cafe where they had a live ban.

Service was great - food came out very fast and everything tasted good! I love that you can make a reservation for inside or outside. The outdoor patio has heat lamps and is dog friendly as well. One note is that the restaurant below often has a band so it can get super loud outside if they are playing!

The food here is great. But….if you come here on a weekend the restaurant next door has live music so loud it makes a heavy metal concert pale in comparison it is so loud. Windows shake, can’t even talk to the person next to you when inside the restaurant. Man we are going to miss the food here as we are regulars, but just can’t stand the beyond loud noise. Note, I love loud music when at a concert or out at 1am clubbing back in the day. But for an upscale sushi, no way. If I were the owner I would talk to the landlords. Just crazy. Beyond crazy there is music going (different music) going on in the restaurants speakers while the music outside is louder. Competing sounds. Unreal.

My wife and I ate here when we visited the Carlsbad area before Christmas. Saw the good reviews on Yelp and gave it a try. We were very impressed with the service and quality of the food. We got the veggie tempura and loved it. Great crunch and freshness. And good portion for the price.We each got a roll and loved it. Super flavorful and the freshness was perfect. We were extremely satisfied with our order. The sake I got was great and we left very happy and full!
There were multiple fish bones in my sushi that I almost choked on. I left a survey review on my takeout order and never heard back from the restaurant.

Great service and location. Food is good and if you go on a weekend you may get to hear the band that plays at the restaurant below.They're pet friendly and fast! I don't remember everything we ordered but I know it was good and we ate all of it. I would come back here again!

Unexpectedly high-quality food in Carlsbad, especially for a family outing! The sushi was a pleasant surprise – fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavors. The service was also wonderful with friendly and attentive staff. The ambiance, set near the train station, was enhanced by lively bar music downstairs, adding to the overall enjoyment.

Carlsbad has lots of sushi spots to offer! Sushi Taisho is pretty popular spot being right in the middle of downtown in the village! They don't disappoint! Oh the top floor above the Coyote, it's a very upbeat environment and you can enjoy the live entertainment downstairs while you eat! I have had multiple rolls and all were fresh and tasty! The tuna and salmon rolls are my favorite! The servers are attentive. I've never had to wait for a refill or had dirty dishes left on the table .This is a super fun place to grab a roll or two, listen to some music and chill! Check it out if you're on downtown Carlsbad!

Honestly not sure why they get so many stars. In the all hat no cattle category, the vegetable egg rolls and gyoza were all gummy dough no filling. We both stopped after one. Sashimi was serviceable.Nigiri was pedestrian. Ginger and Daikon were fresh and generous portions though. Staff was very cheerful and quick. That is all.
