They have reopened under a new name. People thought they were Russian but they are Romanian and Moldavian. Food gets better and better. The Cherry Blintzes are amazing. They also have a great Moldavian Wine. They are back with a new name but same great food and service!

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here last evening. There are booths, tables covered with white linen and a large room for groups and family gatherings. The menu is huge and written in several languages with accurate descriptions of the items. For an appetizer we shared the blini with spinach. The crepes were quite thin and the spinach filling was moist. The blini were served with sour cream. For an entree I had Zhulien, a wonderful combination of moist chicken breast and mushrooms in a rich cream sauce topped with cheese. My husband had the lamb stew in a clay pot. It was well prepared and also very delicious. We ordered glasses of dry red wine from Moldova. The wine was very nice. There is a full bar. Service was attentive and pleasant. We'll be back soon to work our way through the menu. Take Out is also available.

A fantastic family owned food joint serving East European cuisine! From Ukrainian borscht to Russian piroshki and Uzbek plot, this place has all the famous East European dishes. All dishes are made from scratch daily. The food is always fresh and tasty. My dad's family is from Ukraine and the food at this restaurant reminds me of my grandmother's cooking. The interior is decorated in Slavic traditional style, so it feels like you're dining in Europe. Such a cute place! Definitely recommend!

This place has an attentive staff. I'm Polish on my fathers side, and used to live with his family when I was young. I found the food to be quite traditional and authentic. The only reason why I don't give it a higher rating is merely because I only sampled a few of their dishes. However, everything we were served was excellent.Rack of lamb; superb.Polenta; fluffy and delicate.Cucumber and cabbage salad; fresh and crunchy with a creamy, dill dressing.Next time I go I plan to get the stuffed cabbage rolls along with borsht and kasha.

Surprised I haven't had a chance to review this place yet. I've been coming here for years, probably over the past 7-8 years, from when I lived right down the street, to now living half way across town, on the other side of the tracks, still coming here. They've gone through changes over the years, from night club, to buffet, to just being a regular restaurant now. I've always ahead a good experience with the service, food quality and overall experience, through Covid and all. I'm glad they're still around, serving the same, authentic, consistent, home mad food that I sometimes miss and crave. Everything is always freshly made, hot, authentic and consistent. I definitely recommend this place, if you're looking for Russian, Ukrainian or Slavic food. The next closest place I've had that was close to this was in the Bay area. The next closest after that was NY. So, this is still the closest and one of the best in the northern Cali area. If you haven't been, go check it out!!!

If I didn't live across town with astronomical gas prices, I would come here mor than once per month. This place is amazing. One of my favorite restaurants, and definitely my favorite in Sacramento. The food is a little on the expensive side, but considering inflation rates, the quality of the food, and the authenticity of the Slavic cuisine, I think it's more than worth it. Wait times can sometimes be long on busy nights, but that just means more time to chat with friends and enjoy the atmosphere.

Always solidly delicious. I've had everything except their shuba. It all rocks. The weakest thing on the menu is the mashed potatoes, but everything is so tasty and filling.

Delicious food. Staff was really nice and work really hard. The ingredients were really fresh. My favorite dish was the beet salad-it had good texture with the walnuts and with slight sweetest of the prunes. We also had the beef in the clay pot. Beautiful presentation and the beef was so soft. Cheese pancakes were delicious. Fluffy and light. Thank you Firebird for providing such a wonderful meal. We have been wanting to eat at a Russian restaurant for a long time and have looked everywhere in the Central Valley area. Def worth the drive.

We had a wonderful experience here. The food was amazing, service was good, and the environment was lovely. We tried a variety of things. The meal at first came with bread and whipped butter. We then ordered the blini and beet salad. The beet salad was great. It had an amazing flavor and a good amount of horseradish. The meat and cheese blini was the perfect texture and flavor. We also ordered some vareniki & pierogi dumplings. The dumplings had a moist soft texture and the toppings were tasty with them. We also had the swai fillet and zrazy with mushrooms. The swai was moist and had a nice crispy outside. The polenta that came with it was one of the best I've had. The cucumber salad is great too. As for the zrazy with mushrooms, it was delicious and reminded me of a really good chicken meatball log, stuffed with mushrooms. The sauce on it was zesty and added to the dish. Finally, we shared the Napoleon dessert. At first glance it looks huge, however it isn't as dense as you would expect. It was the right size for a dessert and not too much. It had crispy layers of pastry dough, filled with a custard. There wasn't a lot of fruit, but it tasted perfect to me. The waitress was nice, the restaurant was clean, and their bathroom was one of the best kept I've seen in a while. During our time here, there was only one small issue we had, but it's not worth noting. Our experience was memorable and we plan to be back.

Good food, great vibe. Can be slightly on the more expensive side, but the food makes up for it.
