When I used to live down here in the Sac area, I used to have fish and chips all the time, but now I live way up in the north end of the valley and we don't have many places that are dedicated fish and chips restaurants. Tugboat is a small chain in the Sac area and has some of the best fish and chips around. The prices have gone up some since I last ate here. I got a 3 piece fish and chips order for around $15. Gone are the days of the $8.00 3 piece order! The fish was hot and crispy like I remembered .Not really greasy at all. I like to come get fish and chips when I visit the area now. I'll be beck!

I was hungry and craving Fish and Chips and this place seemed to have recently received a good Yelp reviews. We placed a to-go order... When we got home, we were ready to dig in! At first sight, the fish looked good and crispy, but upon my first bite, it was extremely oily, tasteless, mushy fish...Yuk!!! The onion rings were cut so thin that I felt like I was eating oily batter. It was so bad, that after a few bites, we threw it all away. If we had eaten there, I would have most definitely asked for a refund. Wasted money and a ruined appetite!

so i've been enjoying Tugboat since 1999! Always fresh, Always huge portions! Made from scratch fried veggies and their tartar sauce is to die for i always buy a larger one when i'm there! Thank you for being so consistent I have not been to a tugboat in over 6 years and it's still fab!!

This place always delivers. The service is friendly and if your anything like me, a person who thinks they might need 1 of everything, they are patient and always polite. Hands down the best fish and chip in town.Vegetarian options: They have a vegetable tempura and rightnow they also have friend asparagus. They usually do have a seasonal vegetable available

This place is so stinking cute. Little tugboat shaped building with a lovely outdoor seating area. The service is always super friendly and helpful. The food is great, too. Keep a saltshaker handy if you like your chips salted, though; but if you're watching your sodium, this is good news! Their neighbors can be a tad noisy, so try the Greenback location if you require dining in peace.

This favorite has gone downhill fast. Carmichael on Manzanita Last visit it was bad. But we tried again. Prices doubled from what internet said. We ordered a 3 piece. Awful cold probably old limb fries. 3 small pieces of fish that were barely the old size of barely 1. Added 1 tiny onion ring used to be 2 nice sized rings. Combo veggies cold breading fell off most pieces. Stingy on sauces (2 tarter 1/2 full and one tiny vinegar). They must have changed who owns or definetyruns manages the place. Used to give fried banana as a treat. No more. Sorry to say 2 strikes you are out. We definitely will not be patronizing this place again. See you again the day after never.Vegetarian options: Veggie combo was awful. Cold, soggy and breading fallen off.
