I love this place. They have a wonderful menu not only that they have a cozy place with an ambience of being in a garden where you can sit and eat. This is an old fashioned diner style restaurant with really great artichokes. I had the steamed artichoke which was the biggest freshest & most perfectly cooked artichoke I’ve ever had. I had the fried artichokes & artichoke bread, which is a sweet bread. Everything paled in comparison to the steamed artichoke. They also offer a fire roasted artichoke which sounds delicious.Castroville is known for its artichoke crop and for the annual Castroville Artichoke Festival, leading to its nickname as the "Artichoke Center of the World". #deliciousdisheswithpapiha #artichoke #castroville #california #restaurant

Had Fried Artichoke hearts, soup and Jalapeño Artichokes. They tasted fine. It’s basically fair food. The service was poor, and the place is dirty. If the dude would’ve smiled, or had an ounce of personality, or while, he sat and watch TV instead, walked around with a rag and clean the place, it Review might’ve helped.

Look, not trying to hate at all.We came here years ago and loved it enough to come back.This time around, the food was really good, but the men's bathroom situation was horrendous. Not clean at all, and pretty much made it difficult to to appreciate anything else. Fix that and it should be heading in the right direction and be much better.
Disappointing experience. I ordered the steamed artichoke hearts. I aksed if they could be fire roasted and the answer was no. They brought out 4 hearts of different sizes on a plate with no garnish. They had been cooked earlier and reheated, maybe by microwave. They not very hot and not moist, like boiled or steamed veggies usually are. My wife makes better artichokes at home.

My boyfriend and I were craving fish and chips on our drive down the 1 back in August, but most restaurants were either out of the way or on the pricy side, until we found the Giant Artichoke. We didn’t expect the fish and chips to be some of the best we had ever had given they have an artichoke centered menu. Let’s just say I STILL think about this restaurant six months later despite living eight hours away! I will definitely be stopping by next time I find myself on the 1.

It’s artichoke season in Castroville so that’s maybe the reason but it was outstanding & we’ll be returning on our next trip to CA.
