It's not the same place it used to be. Prices are really high now too I guess that's inflation for you. We won't be back.

Sunshine Cafe does bring the Sunshine to its dishes. This lowkey, cozy, and hidden location is a gem in the Cathedral City area. This was my first time at this diner and the food was very memorable. I want to go back for seconds, but the portions they offer won't let you fit it all in. This small quiet family inspired diner has the vibe that makes you feel like you are dining at your grandma's or great aunt's house. There are no frills to distract you from the food. This location appears to be very clean for a so called "hole in the wall" type diner. An A+ for me.The staff is very quiet but very welcoming and inviting. We arrived and all the tables were full but they offered us seating at the counter. The counter is low seating, so no high chairs. As soon as some patrons were done eating, we were able to move our seating to one of their cozy booths. This location is conveniently located right off Hwy 111 on Cathedral Canyon Dr. Parking is very limited but they are next to downtown Cathedral City where a parking structure and street parking are available. Once you park, it's just a brief walk to this diner from the parking structure.Sunshine Cafe makes everything homemade and you can definitely taste it. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with hashbrowns, 2 sunny-side up eggs and the homemade country sausage gravy. This was a great flavorful dish. I was really surprised with the creamy gravy that complimented the chicken fried steak. So Good!!! The hashbrowns were fresh and the eggs were served beautifully. Also, this order comes with a side toast of your choosing. The best part is that they took it upon themselves to butter my toast before it came to the table. I was able to enjoy this meal with their fresh squeezed orange juice. My partner had the Belgian Waffle Combo. This dish comes with 1 large waffle topped with whipped cream, 2 sunny-side up eggs, and 2 large sausages, but bacon is also an option upon request. She was able to have this delicious dish with all you can drink hot coffee. They are very attentive with filling up your mug everytime you reach the bottom of the mug.Overall this is a great location to enjoy a homemade meal when you want to indulge your appetite with lots of love and sunshine. They offer a multitude of other food options, other than breakfast items. As we walked up to the diner, we were hit a with a delicious aroma of charbroiled burgers. I will definitely be back to treat myself to what I assume is a mouth watering burger and my partner, well she can come too.

Amazing food, poor service. My man and I have been coming here for 7 years and we always loved the price, quality, & the cozy ambiance but today the service needed work. When we came in, it was about 2:30 and a big table was just leaving and there were two other 2 person groups other than ourselves. Eventually it was just us and 1 table of 2 and we didn't get checked on since we got our food, it been about 17 minutes and I've been sitting here with nobody in the front of the restaurant. Still waiting for my check and a box that I haven't gotten to ask for yet. Super sad cause we love this place.

First visit for me and my wife. Service was perfect. No waiting. Ambiance as expected. Like walking into an old-time diner (but small). Food was better than expected. Very good to excellent. So no complaints. Will return. I will note that I agree with those who commented negatively about being charged for soft drink refills. I ordered water, so I did not experience or know about the refill charge--though I wouldn't have liked it if I had ordered my Diet Coke.

Delightful old restaurant storefront which hides an expansive seating area and a diner bar to saddle up to. I prefer booths and ours was wide and comfy. Service was attentive. The menu is unbelievably inclusive of all the favorites. Coffee flavorful, mimosa sparkling and food perfecto! Thank you sunshine! PS you canpark across the street in the city lot.

Food is always good as well as the service. Breakfast usually the only meal I've eaten and it's truly a comfort meal.

Service was excellent! The food was average. Went in for breakfast midweek. Unfortunately the hash browns were barely cooked on both of our meals and the toast was burnt. On the bright side, the server was quite friendly and attentive, we felt welcomed and were treated nicely. Ambiance was homey and quiet.

It's your standard old-school café. The service was very very good. But the food it is overpriced. Maybe I'm just not used to these crazy California prices yet. I lived here 2 1/2 years ago and it wasn't this bad. I've been in Florida the last 2 1/2 years and this breakfast would've cost me $14 out the door instead of $21 out the door tip included. It was just two eggs over medium, some nice rye, toast, buttered, hashbrowns, and corn beef hash. Nothing other than that and it was 16 bucks with tax and tip. It was $21.God bless the state!

A favorite breakfast spot for many, it's a cozy diner style establishment with great service and food. This visit only warranted 3 stars on food as the biscuits and sausage gravy were not up to par. The biscuits were very dense, not fluffy, and the gravy was much too thick with flour.
