I love the Italian Cottage! We met some friends there for my husband's "last meal" before back surgery! We were talking and taking our time and suddenly realized we were the only customers left! The staff were so nice.

What can I say? Italian cottage, is Italian cottage. It's the bomb. I remember the sawdust on the floor so I guess I've been around for a long time and have been eating there for ever. Started out eating at the Italian cottage in Redding, California, back in the 80s. Great food. lasagna is by far my favorite.

I came here tonight to celebrate my niece's birthday. The food was so disappointing! The sauce on the tortellini was very runny (I added a picture of it). The red sauce on the other pasta tasted like unseasoned tomato sauce. The bruschetta was soggy on the bottom, and the garlic toast was chewy. I'm sad to report that the quality of the food has gone downhill. Italian Cottage used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Chico. I haven't been here for a few years, but I didn't expect to experience such a drastic change.
The service was great. I thought the Tuscan eggplant was just ok. Side salad was good.

Vegetarian chef salad is legit. Always good service. Much better quality than the chain restaurants. Our family misses the sawdust, but also understand why it's gone.Vegetarian options: Not a lot of vegan options, but they've got the ovo-lacto veggies covered.
