This little oasis nestled in the heart of Downtown Chula Vista is a tropical paradise. Friendly staff, who are welcoming, kind, personable, and know their menu. The beautiful atmosphere with music ideal for enjoying your evening. Loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to make talking with friends easy. The drinks are inspired tropical tastes of the islands. The scorpion bowl is heaven in a large cup and perfect for sharing. The fish and chips are my new favorite fish and chips. Fish and fries both heavenly seasoned and fried.

Note that reservations at Lime in the Coconut are only for their rear "speakeasy", which does not serve a full menu. If you want the full menu, you have to dine in the front part of the restaurant where they do not take reservations. This is not clear on their website. We asked to be moved to the front to get the full experience. The front part looked much more like a regular restaurant. The space went all in on the tropical theme, down to special wallpaper, intricate murals, and elaborate tiki-themed glassware. We were seated in a booth in the bar area. The place was only about one-third full, which is never a good sign at 7:00 on a Saturday night. We immediately noticed that it was very cold in the restaurant, and noticed that the front door was wide open. It was about 55 degrees outside at the time. We asked our server if the door could be closed but he told us that he was not allowed to do that, per the owner's rule, but could partially close the door.Unfortunately, this did not help. In the meantime, we placed our food order. While we waited, we flagged down a person that we were told was the manager and mentioned the temperature again. She reiterated the rule about closing the doors. We asked if the heat could be turned up and she said that she was able to do that. A couple minutes later, she returned saying that she turned the heat on, but it would take a while to warm up and offered to relocate us to a different table further from the front door. We took her up on our offer and were shown to our third and final table of the night. We ordered the nachos to start and they were pretty good, nothing special. My wife's entrée, the bao flight, arrived first. My entrée, the bahn mi sandwich, did not arrive for about 5 - 7 minutes after - a total fail in my book. The entrees were fine, but nothing special. The bahn mi, which I ordered with spam, was pretty light on the fillings, and the saltiness from the spam was the main flavor. The wasabi mashed potato salad, as others have noted, was light on wasabi flavor, but was otherwise fine. The one highlight of the experience was my caipirinha, which was well made. For what it was, the whole experience was on the pricey side at $117 for three drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees, including tax and tip.We left feeling underwhelmed. While the staff were all friendly and accommodating, we have never had to move tables twice. The food was nothing special, and my entrée arrived late. We just got the impression that the owner(s) and management were just phoning it in. It's really too bad because the owner obviously spent some $$$ on the interior design and went all in on the tiki theme. We had high hopes for this restaurant, but ultimately will not be returning.

Love this place. Food is good, drinks are great. Love the kitchy decor. Have had a host a couple times that made me and my group mildly uncomfortable - almost aggressive about the service but the rest of the staff is amazing. I will say that the speak-easy isn't worth the extra hassle. It's cramped and dark and the drinks and food in the main bar are just as good. Order the garlic edamame - they are phenomenal

We went for lunch during the week. We were the only customers there. The server was great and we had great conversation. It's a very large space with nice decor. I'm suer during dinner service it has a great relaxing, chill vibe. The food was good. The musubi balls were cold in the center and we did tell our server who offered to re-fry them but we declined it was still good enough to eat.

This review is strictly for take out food. I ordered the huli huli chicken plate and two orders of the coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was soggy due to the sauce being dumped into the same container as the shrimp. The huli huli chicken was obviously burnt and did not look appetizing at all. For the prices, I expect better quality food.

Went here for their Christmas pop-up and had to wait a little bit to get seated downstairs. We sat upstairs and had some French fries with a side of gravy, and they were hot and delicious. We had a drink up there also. The drinks in the pop-up bar were very good, and they were in fun cups. The servers and bartenders were all wonderful.

Seemed very unorganized, the owner was around asked him couple questions and he had zero clue/ didn’t have an answer , drinks took forever and service was meh , drinks took 30+ mins on top of that gratuity was 18% for my group of 7 which when we sat down they asked if we could squeeze down to 2 small tables , mind you there was one big booth and 2 other tables that were never used during the duration of our time of dining

Last night was my first experience here and probably my last. I did not experience the actual restaurant, my friends and I decided to try out their holiday speakeasy. I'm giving them 3 stars and maybe less because of the customer service. I'm in my late 30s. This isn't my first rodeo and honestly we were going to try out a different holiday bar near by but I insisted we try them out We had 9 in our party. As soon as we were seated we noticed you could purchase fun glassware. I immediately asked for 2 shot glasses. I tried to pay at that moment and tuck them away , no such luck. The bill came at the end of the night and on my receipt for 2 shot glasses I was charged with 18% gratuity. Do not buy the merchandise it's not worth itThey could have, and easily should have waved this ridiculous fee. We still had a $300+ bill to pay. They were and did receive that payment, what was the harm in removing a fee on 2 shot glasses. Go to Marshals instead guys. They have just as cute Santa mugs and reindeers for much cheaper!!! When we received our actual food and liquor bill there were minor discrepancies and as we were reading them aloud our server let us know that We should consider the happy hour margaritas price "a gift" because that amount was a mistake. I did not like her tone. Again. We are a group of 38-45yr olds. 2 of us work in this industry. There were better ways to approach us and answer questions. Needless to say. I will be telling all of my local friends about my experience here. The customer is not always right. But there are minor adjustments that can be made so that people over look little things and come back again and again. Fries were good. The drinks were good. Service was lackluster. Bathroom was clean.
