4++ If it wasn't for Yelp, I probably wouldn't have known this place existed. This Peruvian restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall on a smaller road in City of Industry. I came in for lunch one day a while back and it wasn't too busy. Looks like a place that gets busier at night or the weekends. Got seated right right away. Couldn't really decide what I wanted, so I went with my go to Peruvian dish when I'm unfamiliar with a spot or have trouble deciding: lomo saltado. I thought this was done really well. The sauteed beef was really tasty along the veggies served with rice. I could've sworn there's a little vanilla used in the recipe... I was the only one in the restaurant at the time and it smelled a little like delicious waffle cone you smell at those ice cream shops. Overall, the food was great and service / people were friendly. Great neighborhood spot.

The food was good. But the service was a bit lackluster. Food came out one at a time. Some had finished their meal and others still waiting. Lots of items not available.

This place can be easy to miss from the main road, but this is definitely a place you do not want to miss out on. A group of us ordered here for an office birthday (was a special request). We called in for a takeout order and the order was ready promptly. When we arrived, our orders were ready to go and bagged up for us so we could be on our way. One note here: A box of food did spill open in the car on the drive back. Better packaging is a necessity with the textures of food typically being ordered here. The staff was personable and the restaurant was clean. We were told they have a private room available for rent. No liquor license. Food was amazing and still hot by the time we got back. There's a few other options I look forward to trying in the future.

The first time here and the service was great, friendly, and accommodated a large group.I ordered the Lomo Saltado Beef, which is very tasty. The ceviche de pescado (picante) was delicious, I also ordered the Papa ala Huancaina. Everything was delicious. I recommend going to this small hidden gem.Vegetarian options: There are several options for vegetarians, I wouldn't really recommend it for vegans as several of the dishes will have some kind of cheese base in the sauce or dish.

Great food, it's a bit hidden but give it a chance. It's food you are eating not the location, location, location.El Gordo, the owner is a great chef. He is related to houdini. Will appear great dishes, to enjoy. If you have 20 or more, there a private dining on the second floor, for friends and bachelor parties. I was told.

One of the best Peruvian spots I've ever been to! The food is so authentic and delicious. Not to mention the owner's personality and generosity. Only spot to get Peruvian food in La Puente/City of Industry hands down! 10/10 !! The Lomo saltado is amazing !

Best Peruvian in the area! I've been here twice and the owner is always so kind and funny. The vibe is so homey but fun cause he has a whole karaoke setup! 10/10

Great food, really tasty. Would give it 5 stars but the chef went to sit down next to my family and would only touch on really bleak topics about the quality of food in the US. Just completely lacked any self awareness, it was bizarre. Had to scoot out of there pretty quickly before he continued his diatribe. Sad really.

It is a hidden place for sure! Not many people know about it but when they do they keep coming!! The place is a little dark and has a live karaoke stage! I love it . Overall I am sure everything is good, my friend's foods was amazing but mine was not what I expected. I had many Peruvian foods and this was nothing like it. I had the Huacainas tallarin and the tallarin was overcooked and the chicken was burnt. No pictures but I hope next I go (I will give them another chance) it gets better.

My wife and I were in the area and looking for some Peruvian food as my wife was craving Lomo Saltado. Saw El Criollo was the closest and had great reviews. The reviews were correct. The Lomo Saltado was beyond delicious. The chef and owner was a charm. We enjoyed talking to him and he made us feel comfortable and it was nice to see who was preparing our food. The location is a bit hidden but once inside it's a nice ambiance. Very clean and the staff were super friendly. They accommodated my 17 month daughter with what we needed to keep her comfortable while we ate. The chef put a kids cartoon on the big screen tvs for her to watch. Definitely coming back and giving the rest of the menu a try. If the Lomo Saltado was delicious, I can only imagine the other dishes.
