I do like this (pardon me) watering hole in the wall for a number of reasons. Firstly, there's a lot of art and desiderata over the majority of the interior, and secondly, the place is very intimate and hardly ever banging (i confess I don't go there at night too often, because why would I?), and Thirdly, it's got a great customer area out back, with pretty cool/chill people, lots of succulents and, even though it's not a huge space, it does offer nice spread out seating and plenty of elbow room for those of us in need of such stuff. Oh, I almost forgot: the barkeeps make good drinks, are no-nonsense, generally very chill, earnest and friendly, it all adds up to more than the sum of its parts. I'd rate it higher but that's a tall order, probably an interior update, floors and all (including the stage, bathrooms and outside - maybe I missed it but a music on demand system and wifi that's accessible would be transformative and probably make it my goto for a simple place to go where everybody knows your name), and it honestly wouldn't take much. Always a good time at Red Hat. The staff is easygoing and they have a nice outdoor patio area. If you catch them on a live music night, even better.
