Very disappointed on my second return purchased of the three Vietnamese chicken sandwiches. The portion size of the chicken was small compared to my first purchase. I asked for extra jalapeño and the daikon. But was not informed that it will be extra charged. Would appreciated if I was informed about it?.

We came here for lunch and ordered the khaosoi and laos sausage. The khaosoi was jammed packed with meat and the broth was rich and flavorful. We couldn't finish the soup so we brought it home. The sausage was tasty and came with cucumbers. There was a strong lemongrass flavor, which is my favorite. I can't wait to come back to try more things on their menu.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of highchairs

Parking: The front parking lot is tough to find a spot but behind it in the old Frys parking lot there is usually plenty of parking.

I've had a lot of Laotian 'aunties' and 'uncles' growing up. I've went to all the get togethers where you see everyone's mom/grandma getting down in the kitchen. Literally... they're all on low stools or criss-crossed prepping god knows what heaven sent in making Laos food. So with that, I've grown up with a big portion of my life eating authentic Laos food. I was VERY surprised to find a restaurant like this in concord. Not only do I love Asian street food, I like food establishments that stand out much different than the rest. Spicy Joi's is one of them. I stumbled across this place as I was getting delicious bakery from 85 next door. I was thinking "No way, something like that opened here??" (Positive mindset of course. I think the only other Laos spot I've been to was in Oakland and Stockton.) I told myself I needed to try it out and on one spontaneous day, one year later; "You know what? I'm craving some papaya salad. I haven't had any in yearssss." Unfortunately I didn't dine in because I was on break at work not too far away. But I for sure planned out what I was getting ahead of time a few days before. I was excited for this day to come. These are my honest thoughts on my orders: * Kua Mee Mao Drunken Noodle (4.5/5 stars) - has a nice charred basil-y aroma and flavor. Very similar to Thai pad see ew. The docked star is just my personal opinion but for these kind of noodles I typically get beef. There was only chicken, pork, & tofu. I got chicken in medium spice (I know how crazy spicy y'all Laos folks make your food. I had to get this spice level to know for next time lol!) Regardless, it was still very yummy and the noodles had a good texture to it while still clinging to the flavors. Would order again. * Tum Makhuong/Papaya salad (4.5/5 stars) - food tastes SO much better when you're craving it. Not only was the crunchiness from the papaya that I drenched in sauce satisfying, it's very rare to find that home made sauce. Honestly as good as the flavor was, I feel it was lacking the tiniest thing to make it 100% perfect. Maybe it's another personal opinion but seemed it could be a little saltier? Not salty but just a hint. Refreshing though. I used it as a dipping sauce and vermicelli would go amazing with this. * Pork belly (5/5 stars) - Even though I ordered to go, the pork belly was still crispy and not over cooked. Visually I liked that some pieces looked bigger but it's just smaller pieces stuck together and you can just tell they use that big ole kitchen knife to butcher it all up. This with rice would pair amazing. I wish they had added like a chili fish sauce with it. Still amazing either way. * Sticky rice (4/5 stars) - you cannot get Laos food and order regular steamed rice. No way. Sticky rice is the way to go. I for sure dipped this in my papaya sauce and ate with the pork belly no doubt. It just seemed a little less moist than what I expected it to be. Then again, it would probably have been different had I dined in. All-in-all this was a great meal. I didn't finish it only cause my co workers seemed to drool over my lunch and I had to be selfish and take the rest home to enjoy. ;) I would LOVE to come back and try the rest of their menu. I seen that they have khao poon which again, VERY hard to find and was a childhood favorite. Already stargazing just thinking about it. Whenever my family is in town I I want them to come here so I can have a bite of everything! (And so my mom can pay for it all hehehe.) Good job to the owner Joi. You have another returning customer!

On the insistence of others I have decided to give this establishment another chance. Place had a pretty good vibe with the kitchen pushing out food at a pretty good pace. Food was tasty and had a good experience that was until we got home. Got the stomach bug fast and spent the hour having my guts spill out through my rectum for the next 6 hours on the pot. Never again will I eat at this place. Patrons beware!

Been to Spicy Joi on multiple occasions, and it's become one of my and my husband's go-tos when we don't feel like cooking or don't know what to eat. We came by yesterday for a to-go order, and got some of our faves, plus a few new things to try. Lao Style Pad Thai -- 7/10, noodles were a bit on the dryer side and stuck together. But flavor wise, it was pretty good. Lemongrass Tofu Bahn Mi -- 8.5/10, this is my husband's go-to order. always a solid choice when we come here. Nam Khao -- 8/10, my first time getting this dish and the texture is so satisfying! loved the crispy rice bits, the savoriness, and the freshness from the lime. Spicy Joi has some bomb food, and their service is always speedy and consistent. They have plenty of seating if you want to dine-in, and I think it would be a great place for a meal with your family with their many shareable dishes. Make this your stop for lunch or dinner next time you're in the area!

Food is always well seasoned and the use fresh ingredients(herbs &veggies not wilted, rice soft and steaming hot). Pork belly crisp and lao sausage is never a disappointment. Spicy here, will be spicy, lol. Nam Khao is fire! Service is also good. Only negative is that I miss some of their prepped to-go dishes and desserts they serv3d at their old spot. ? I ? Lao food

The food was amazing, we ordered ultimate bomb platter and it so much food for a reasonable price. Their service is top notch, their ambiance was the vibe and their papaya salad tastes like my mom homemade from Laos. Even my white wife love it so much and we will come back.
