The worst place to work, they still hours from the paycheck, the owner Ernesto and chef juan treat you very unprofessional, supposedly they have to pay me the tips every Monday, but they don't, i have to be on top them asking for the tips, and they keep the mayority of money, and i have to bring my own money to pay tips to the Bar, bussers, kitchen, food r etc. every day, On top of that, they choose the customers who they already know leave good tips and seat them in the owner's son's section Angel, they want to keep all the many. Im short $600.00 dlrs from my pay check, I talked to the owner and his response was "that he is the owner and he can do what ever he wants and who ever doesn't like the door wide open." Es triste que aun existan personas que abusen de los derechos de los empleados.

Thank you very much for great service, and great environment. Really appreciate them not ushering us out the door, even though we were well passed the 'closing time'. It's a go to spot for us. Thank you!

Good food but service is really slow and they don’t even have a host to help sit you down. Servers and bussers just stare at you and walk away. Will not come here

The food is delicious. To start off I ordered the Cazuela de Queso with handmade corn tortillas. The combination of the three cheese gave it a smoky taste. My entrée was the Maiz Cocina Salad the combination of greens, sautéed peppers, roasted corn and jicama gave it a crunchy taste that was not too heavy. I recommend the food and the friendly customer service made my visit delightful. True pride in ownership in the decoration and cleanliness of the location.

Worst experience ever. The food is expensive, over $50 for two and if you ask for a tiny hot sauce the rude manager or owner will explain that it's $4 more because he has to pay for the produce. Never has even El Pollo Loco! asked for a dime extra for their salsa. Food is plain tasting too.

Dining at Maiz Cocina was an unforgettable experience, especially when it came to their sea bass. The dish was nothing short of spectacular, delivering a burst of flavors that truly blew me away. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, with its tender, flaky texture effortlessly complementing the rich, savory seasonings. Each bite was a delightful journey, making it clear that the chef knows their way around seafood. But let's not forget the starters - the chips and salsa were absolute killers. The chips were perfectly crispy, providing that satisfying crunch with every bite, while the salsa was fresh, vibrant, and packed with just the right amount of kick to get the taste buds dancing. The overall ambiance of Maiz Cocina added to the dining experience, making it not just a meal, but a culinary adventure. It's no wonder I'm already counting down the days until I can return. Maiz Cocina isn't just serving food; they're crafting experiences, and their sea bass is a testament to their commitment to excellence. Can't wait to go back!

I wish I could explain how amazing the food is. Every dish we had tasted amazing. The service was wonderful, and the waiters were extremely attentive and nice. The ambiance in the restaurant was cozy but elegant. I felt comfortable and I definitely recommend the device, enchiladas, and the cake! Omg the cake is delicious!

Been to this place three times and I feel bad that I didn't post this review the first time I went!! The owner is always there and is always behind the bar and working extremely hard setting the bar high for his employees but showing them he will put it the work with them!!! Now to the food every time I come this place has great presentation when the food comes to the table and it tastes as good as it looks. This is a place you have to try the food the service and outside patio are all top notch! The bar has everything you would want from McAllen to the best tequila I'm very happy with this place and will be there supporting this restaurant %
