We had a lovely lunch with excellent service today. Particularly enjoyed the service. The ambiance was lively but not noisy. The salad was was excellent, but we had a steak sandwich which was just okay. We should have ordered pasta . Definitely recommend for a place to dine in a high end mall.

Il Fornaio is a perennial favorite, but this time I was a bit disappointed. Little things, like the volcano cake was not warm, and the appetizer came out at the same time as the main courses. Still yummy and fun, but not the usual exceptional I am used to.

Normally I have great food here but this was a real miss. My pasta reeked of burnt overcooked garlic. I could barely eat half of it However, the service was exceptional, not just good but great. I should have sent it back but then my wife's meal would have just sat there. I was surprised.

We went for lunch on a Wednesday, so there were plenty of tables and we got our favorite booth. The server remembered us (from a lunch date 2 months earlier) and greeted us cheerfully. My husband ordered a veggie pizza and I ordered the beet salad and mushroom raviolis. Everything was outstandingly delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. Big improvement from early days of Il Fornaio's careless, slow service. I highly recommend as a place to come for a weekeday couples lunch, with friends for dinner, to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

A friend and I met for a business dinner and requested a quiet area. Although not a corner, we could converse easily. Our waiter had a great personality and made a couple of excellent suggestions. Both our entrees were delicious and the evening was most pleasant and productive.
