Got the pork katsu curry and it is very disappointing. They are not known for this dish, so I give them 3 stars. The katsu was not a cutlet, instead just a piece of breaded pork. Meat needs to be pounded before it is deep fried but they do not. Tough to chew and does not taste like a cutlet should. The curry is not tasty either. I would recommend coco ichiban if you want good curry.

We had ramen. It was tasty. They have a wide variety of food offerings besides ramen so maybe our next time here we try some of those.

I've been on a mission to try omurice with demiglace sauce and not the lazy ketchup drizzle. While Aoki No Chuuka didn't have Omurice, they did have Curry Omumeshi. It looked interesting and from the pictures, it looked like demiglace sauce. So I ordered it to try. This was very tasty. The curry fried rice is delicious. While the sauce doesn't seem like it is demiglace sauce but something similar to Bulldog Brand Sauce. It still worked. Definitely recommended.

I think this is the only place to get Tenshin Chahan (Tenshion Fried Rice in their menu) in OC. If you grew up in the south like I did and like gravy over everything for no reason, go here, get this. It's fried rice with a shrimp omelette on top. As if that's not enough, they pour gravy (ankake) over top. So good. I'm sure their other stuff is great and authentic, but I can't not get this when I go here. It's a little confusing but make sure to note, they close after lunch hours (11:30am - 2pm) then open again for dinner (5pm-8:30 mon & thurs, until 9pm fri-sat, until 8pm sun), make sure to check before making an online order.

Don't let the direct English translation fool you (Japanese Chinese food) ..this is a little hole in the wall gem. It's home style Japanese comfort food. We live 2 hours away and we'll be back.My wife ordered Ramon. It came in a huge bowl..I forgot mi foods name. It's pic is on the bottom of the menu. It was a scrambled egg with shrimp and rice. The sauce they covered it was delicious. Normally we eat half and take home the rest. We kept eating until air plates were empty. The waitress was good. She spoke Japanese to my wife another bonus.Go there and be brave and try anything. You'll love it!

I have mixed feelings about Aoki No Chuuka. It's definitely authentic as they have a loyal clientele and regulars that are greeted upon entry. The service is friendly enough but the food is inconsistent. I alway get the chashudon and it's great. Generous serving of seasoned pork over warm rice. Yum! But my family prefers either ramen or mapo tofu and this is where things go south quickly. Both dishes are served either luke warm or room temp. What? I can't imagine these dishes not being served piping hot and it appears that they are dead set in the way they do things as the regulars seem fine with it. This lack of kaizen (Japanese for continuous improvement) mystifies me but hey, it works for them so who am I to complain.

Food is spectacular. Great service in a quaint space. We love coming here. We've tried many different dishes and all of them have been great.
