Basil Mediterranean Grill beckons with its enticing aroma of grilled meats and the promise of authentic Persian flavors. While the restaurant's name suggests a broader Mediterranean influence, its menu proudly showcases the rich culinary heritage of Persia. I embarked on a gastronomic adventure, eager to test their prowess in preparing the beloved dishes of this ancient land. My culinary odyssey commenced with the Beef Combination Plate, a symphony of flavors and textures priced at $29. This culinary concerto featured a chorus of ground beef kabobs (koobideh) and thinly sliced, marinated charbroiled filet mignon (barg kabob), harmoniously accompanied by a bed of rice or a verdant salad. I chose the latter, a Greek salad composed of a medley of mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, feta cheese, olives, and a balsamic vinaigrette. The salad, though refreshing, was a tad petite compared to offerings at other Persian establishments, its stature akin to a dainty ballerina amidst a troupe of robust athletes. The ground beef kabob, while possessing a pleasing flavor profile, lacked the succulent juiciness I had anticipated, its texture akin to a seasoned symphony rather than a rousing concerto. In stark contrast, the filet mignon emerged as a culinary triumph, its exquisite flavor and impeccable preparation akin to a virtuoso's performance. The meat, cooked to perfection, possessed a tenderness that melted upon my tongue, its symphony of flavors resonating with each bite. However, the dining experience was not without its imperfections. The pricing, notably higher than that of other Persian restaurants, caused a slight dissonance in my culinary symphony. Furthermore, the service left much to be desired. Our server's inattentiveness was a jarring note in the otherwise harmonious ambiance. Replenishing our beverages seemed an afterthought, and summoning the check required persistent effort, despite the restaurant's emptiness. Additionally, the server's refusal to split our check three ways, insisting on a two-way division, added to the discordant notes of the dining experience. Despite these shortcomings, Basil Mediterranean Grill's culinary offerings hold promise. The delectable flavors of the beef kabobs, particularly the barg kabob, were a testament to their culinary prowess. With a few refinements to the service and a more reasonable pricing structure, Basil Mediterranean Grill could easily ascend to the pinnacle of Persian cuisine.

The food was great. It tasted amazing and it was a fun experience. But just saying, be prepared for the nasty diarrhea you will experience after.

Everything was way too salty. The seasoning was good but too heavy with the salt. Ruined my dish. Ordered lamb shank. Inedible. Had it returned and was offered the lamb chops. That was too salty. Felt bad so we just took it home. Good luck but no thank you.

Genesis waited on us and the service was excellent and so was the food. It was a perfect lunch with my BFF to catch up and relax. This place is a wonderful hide away with old fashion customer priority ...... a must for being able to speak to each other without wild loud music. Thank you again!

I did the Ubereats bogo boneless chicken with rice/salad for the first time and am now a fan. I LOVE mediterranean food so i try a lot of different places but I must say Basil was a 10/10! The chicken breast had the perfect seasoning/flavor and their garlic sauce HIT. Will definitely be ordering from them more often.

Excellent food! Tried the chicken shish kebab and it was delicious. Moist, lots of flavor. Our server was Genesis; she was very informative and attentive. Highly recommend.

I went online and the menu looked fantastic..only thing the menu was the only thing great about Basil.I walked in and there's no scent or smell of food at all as if they were closed for a while and the waitress sitting behind the counter shouted:"Sit wherever there's utensils"All while still sitting down...still.And the kicker: there was only two customers sitting down...that's the red flag. She eventually came with menus and threw them in the table and rushed back to sit down on her phone. No, I didn't eat there because they didn't give me and my wife the chance.I wouldn't recommend it but see it for yourself.

Terrible service, we sat down with nobody in the restaurant and the server comes out of the back and tells us we need to wait to be seated and we can't sit just anywhere. Then we waited 10 minutes at the table. Eventually we just left. Maybe something was wrong but it was a bad experience for my friend and I.

Very disappointed with my last order from Basil Mediterranean Grill (delivery). The quality of the food was outrageous. We received a quarter of a raw onion instead of the grilled onions we ordered. The Tuscany Salmon we ordered was definitely burnt (see picture).I reached out to the restaurant. They did not return my calls and did not reply to my emails. Just very poor customer service. It's a bummer because I used to like this place.

I had lunch at Basil a couple of days ago, and the food and service were amazing. They use quality ingredients and the portions were big. Great atmosphere and service as well. I will definitely be taking family and friends to this restaurant.

This goes to show you that if you don't succeed the first time, try again..I can't exactly remember what I ordered the previous time, but wasn't fitting my pallet. Service was fantastic though. Clean, love the atmosphere.I was in the mood for a Mediterranean salad, Got the Date salad with chicken and it was phenomenal. I'll be back for sure.

Food has changed quite a bit. It's still okay, but I remember it being much better in the past. Maybe it was just an off night.Vegetarian options: Customary Persian selections including traditional vegetarian stew, meatless appetizers and a number of classic rice (polo) pilafs.Dietary restrictions: Most entrees are halal. Inquire to learn the exceptions.Parking: Limited on the Harbor Blvd frontage, but ample behind. Enter lot off 19th Street.
