The Tackle Box was a great restaurant with excellent seafood dishes. Unfortunately it has closed.A new restaurant will take it's place in November 2021. It's called "Butcher's Brasserie". I would surmise that it will focus y on meat.

Not open during covid.....wow.

Another victim of our state "lockdown," which has destroyed so many more lives than it purports to have saved. The young people who started this business invested all they had to start this restaurant. They served great food, employed people, and offered an innovative and superb product to their community.

I came here to each lunch a while ago, before coronavirus was a thing. On this day I decided to get the Agua Fresca of the day, Watermelon, and also the Korean BBQ Burger for my entree. The Agua Fresqua was fresh and light, with small pieces of watermelon fruit mixed into the drink. The dominant flavor was watermelon and the sweetness level was low (much less sweet than typical Mexican agua fresca). There was only one size and it was $3.50, and I would only consider paying this if the specific flavor was strongly appealing to me. The Korean BBQ Burger was tasty. The burger base is Angus beef, and was topped with a kimchi relish (which makes it Korean). This kimchi was particularly spicy, that an American palate was able to tolerate and enjoy it. It also paired well with the American cheese and spicy aioli. Arugula rounded out this burger as the leafage. This would be easy enough to replicate at home, and I would rather try a different burger than purchase this one again for $13.50. On the side there was a large sliced pickle (which was not mentioned on the menu, and I would have asked for without said pickle), and house made chips. These are (I think) baked potato chips with in house salt and pepper seasoning. I thought there were necessary to complete the meal since the burger size was not sufficient to be an entree portion on its own.

We had a superb experience in this place. We liked the awesome environment and the meals. The staff members were very affable. I’m happy we ultimately decided to eat here.

I am so sorry to read the Tackle Box in Costa Mesa SOCO closed. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was fun. I hope the location in Corona Del Mar reopens. Thank you for great food!

We had drinks at the restaurant and bar called the Tackle Box on Hyland Ave in Costa Mesa. What first strikes you as unusual is the interionic design. At first it looks like a dinner with a long counter area and a very high open ceiling. Actually their motto is: “local grub shack” The food menu looked interesting but since we had just completed our dinner we enjoyed a couple of glasses of their white house wines. Both the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc were nice. The service was nice and we enjoyed sitting at the counter watching the chef prepare various dinner entrées. Actually we noticed many of the plates were served with homemade potato chips and the chef gave us a small bowl to sample. If the rest of the food was that good I would highly recommend the Tackle Box.

Love this place! I do not recommend the fried pickles but everything else I have loved. My top favorites are the Fish n Chips, Burger (ask for ketchup on the side they put to much), Cobb salad. Korean tacos are not the best things ever but on the happy hour menu for 5$ why not. Friendly staff. AMAZING fries, I wish they served those instead of their chips.

Love the Tackle Box in Costa Mesa ! Brian takes great pride in the quality of the food. We had the fish and chips and the chicken parmigiana sandwich. I requested the optional laser message to my man, "Happy Birthday, Joe", on the bun--So Cool!! You all should check it out.

This area has some awesome food options. If you're coming here for lunch, you might want to arrive a little early, parking filled up fairly quickly. When we walked in, the guy at the front greeted us with such joy. You can tell he loves his job and I can definitely appreciate that. He suggested I try the special, which was the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Sandwich. this sandwich was amazing and too big to finish. The restaurant was cute, not really big. You can order to go or dine in. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they had chips instead of fries. I'm a fries type of girl.
