I used to eat indoors/upstairs but, since the pandemic started almost 2 years all the dinners are pick up and go. The dinners used to be once a week (Mondays only) except around certain holidays but, since the pandemic the dinners are now 5 days a week. It is the only church/diner I know of that feed the needy, unemployed and the homeless. Grace diner does a great job in trying to support the community.

On everything that has ever mattered in life, this was the nicest church with the most welcoming staff and Pastor (Jim) ever. I am convinced that someone else must be pastoring the church, because whether or not it was a Sunday, once upon a time, you would find the church open. I went today, hoping to say a prayer at the altar as I had done in the past. There was a line of people out front, so I assumed the church was open. Apparently, the people are there for a food drive of some sort. Nice. I approached one person who I refuse to call a man. He was a mongrel. He sat on the side of the church. I thought he was talking on his phone but I couldn't tell for sure. I asked if he knew whether the church was open. Apparently, I should have yelled or signed in order for him to hear me. I asked THREE TIMES, only to keep hearing, "I can't hear you." He was either deaf or just plain rude. I went to church to pray, not to entertain the devil, so I moved along. I found someone else who at least answered my question. He let me know the church is only open on Sunday. Ok. I've given donations of money and beautiful clothing to this church, tithed, etc. Not any more. People love to say that you never know what a person is going through, so treat people with kindness. Apparently, because I look like my needs are met (and they are, praise God), I wasn't worthy of proper respect from whomever is manning the church during the week. Cool. I will stick to my services at Bedside Baptist where the devil has no room to dwell, it is mongrel free and the Communion wine is all-you-can drink. I appreciate Pastor Jim, Ms. Doris and some of the others for what Grace Lutheran was but it is apparently no longer. Bless.

Grace Diner is a free meal for hungry people provided by volunteers from the membership of Grace Lutheran Church in Culver City. I was there a few weeks ago to sing Christmas Carols with other members of the Santa Monica Oceanaires Barbershop Chorus. We rehearse in the same room that Grace Diner uses each Monday night.
