The most amazing tacos! Do Trinity, Tijuana Panther, Blanco!

I attend a family gathering, they served food from HomeState that was so delicious, I just had to write about it. A pre-order for 2 dozen tacos, tortilla chips and toppings was served. The tortillas were handmade and filled with a variety of protein, cheese and beans. Each was individually wrapped in foil and clearly labeled for your convenience. The food has a "Texas" flair to it, featuring brisket, pinto or black beans, diced potatoes, pickled red onions, Pico de Gallo, and vegetarian options too. I chose the "Don't Mess with Texas" soft taco. It was filed with Charro beans, bacon, potatoes and cheddar cheese. You can also buy a dozen flour tortillas as a side and save them for the next day! So worth the price ($8 a dozen). They are open 7 days a week, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try them and you will want to go back for more. Don't forget to tell 'em that Rosemary sent ya!

Got the frito pie with the brisket and happy to say the flavor of the brisket was there this time! Really love the flour tortillas here as well. I get them a few times a month. ($8 for 12)

Pretty small sample size, but these are the best breakfast tacos I've ever had! Got one with Egg White / Black beans to try and have a healthier one and it was BETTER than even the one with bacon and potatoes (which was amazing). Must try!

One of my fav spots for Tex Mex & breakfast tacos in LA. So happy there's one in downtown Culver City. Lots of patio seating, but food can take a while esp on a busy morning. Service is great and food never disappoints. TRINITY TACO (on house made flour) is the best - with eggs, bacon, potato and cheddar! Also, share a side of queso w/ chips - it is life changing.

Stopped by for a breakfast taco. Flavourful, but a little small for the price. With so many great tacos spots, while clean and fun, not overly authentic.

So glad to have HomeState open in the neighborhood. My favorite is the potato anytime taco. There is usually a very long line during lunchtime but it moves pretty fast. Very decent prices.

We ordered these for a work event and everyone was happy (that is hard to do by the way :)). We got a mix of meat/vegetarian options which was also great. You could tell the tortillas were homemade, which really should be a requirement here in LA. Pick up was a little challenging in Culver City (not the restaurant's fault that area is just very congested), but the staff was very nice and food was ready to go when I got there. I'm going to try them again on the weekend...

Just had Homestate cater a party at my house. To a tee, every guest was raving about the food. It was simply unbelievable. Which makes things difficult for me, because the food next door at Kismet is also incredible. And threatens to add inches to my waistline. One tip for the Homestate people, the tubs of salsa/salad dressing are impossible to open. Had to take a knife to the lids.

Super friendly staff, "meh" food. I came here on a whim on a Friday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. after having forgotten to eat lunch. I was pretty hungry, so I was pretty disappointed to find out that their $6 Brisket taco was very tiny (not longer than 5" and not very filling). I think you'd need at least 3 of them to get the same quantity of food as one burrito at Chipotle or Baja Fresh. The brisket inside was also very dry, as if it had been sitting a long time (I was the only customer, so that may have been the case). I also ordered chips & queso, and the chips were very dense and also very dry, and half my chips were broken apart/crumbled, like chips you find at the bottom of the tortilla bag. Again, they didn't taste super fresh, although the queso was good--thick and creamy, the way queso should be. There are just so many phenomenal taco joints around L.A., I doubt I'll be coming back to this one. And from the lack of other patrons, I don't think this one will stay open long. But I do like the clean, pleasant outdoor seating, and the staff were all very friendly & responsive. If you just needed a quick, inexpensive bite on your way somewhere, and you didn't want hefty portions, this could scratch that itch.

Awesome and filling breakfast tacos. Try it with the flour tortillas. It won't disappoint. Every time I'm in the area I always try to stop by.

I had really high hopes for this place based on the other reviews but these were truly the worst tacos I've ever had in my life. The tortillas were good though.

So this check-in made me both happy and sad... First off, I love HomeState. I've had them for work meetings and for myself for ~6 years When I saw they opened this location close to me and next to my gym... I was worried about it being too convenient Decided to stop in yesterday after an afternoon workout. Got my usuals: Trinity, Pecos & Guadalupe... and a lil Queso/chips. The Queso & Chips were awesome as usual. Hard to mess that up. The tacos though... really, really disappointing. Stale tasting, tough tortillas. Bacon that was tough to burnt, killing the overall flavor Literally it tasted like they'd been made hours ago and were sitting in a warming drawer. So... Happy that the temptation of having it so close isn't there. Sad that they were cranking out really bad versions of what are awesome tacos. Hopefully the quality hasn't taken a dive at the Playa Vista & Echo Park... which are far enough away to not be too convenient:)
